502rwhp M6 Needs Traction/tire Advise! I'm running stock shocks, V6 springs in the back and the front sway bar is disconnected. I'm on 315/35/17 Nitto 555R's now...their good for the street but I'm thinkin about a 15" rim and a wrinkle wall tire for the track. I want to be able to launch @5000rpm

Are you all motor, forced induction, or nitrous? I would go with lower control arms, a torque arm, and adjustable shocks all the way around to start off.

I pulled a couple 1.49's at Skyview last Friday night with my 275/60/15 M/T DR's. E.T. Drags might work a little better with an M6 car though. We need to get that car to a better track, maybe NYIRP. Traction is a lot better up there.

I didn't have much luck with the 17" DR's. 255/50/16 MT DR's were at minimum a tenth better. I was able to do 1.6 60fts easy on the 255's. When are u going to the track next? I have a set of wheels with these DR's on them, but only a little tread left if u want to give them a try. Launching on DR's with a stick can be a bit trickky, maybe ill see u up there and try to watch u and give some pointers. Shoot me a PM if u want to try my MT DR's.

17's will never work as was as u want with a 6spd,4.11's and 500hp. they might feel alright on the street but at the track not so good.. i just got some 275/50/15 running bout the same power but through an auto and stock gear. they hook a 100% better than the 17's dr's i had...at 40+mph. if u dont mind a tall tire get the 275/60/15 28" tall better for 4.11 and m6

If he's willing to try a different rim then I'd say def go 15"
And something like 12 way QA1's are a must!!!

I'm willing to try a different rim, because my car is geared for a 26-27 inch tire. Can you tell me what backspacing I would need, or what rim to use? Probably a 27x11.5x15 Hoosier QTP

15x10 and a lot of grinding..i just did all that last month. but if ur not into all that grinding or want the 15's u can get the 325/17/45 like cdubbzz said. i was thinking of doing that being a lil cheaper that a set of 15's..

listen, you can try the radial, but if you wantsolid preditable consistant traction regardless of track prep, get yourself the 15 inch wheels, and a set of full slicks. I don't think you're making enough power to really need a 28 inch tire, but a set of 26x10.5 ET drags would do wonders for the traction department.
That has a way better chance IMO of holding then the radial does, the radial will work if your suspension is really well set up, but for a starting point, I would do a bias ply tire. You put them on, and it will pretty much work, put a radial on, it might work.
Sidewall is your friend, the 15 inch rim, wether you do a radial or a bias ply will make all the difference.
You don't have to spend the big $ on bogarts, convo pro's will clear on the front and the 8 inch wide ones will clear on the rear with no grinding. Not the ideal rear rim width, but it's miles better then messing with 17inch tires on a drag car.

I know the 15x8 convo doesn't need any grinding, chef has a set and they went right on his car no grinding at all.
The fronts do the same they go right on with no modding at all.
The 15x10 is a better size because it spreads the tire out and increases the footprint, and helps decrease the tire groth a little, but it's either grind the **** out of the calipers which I personally don't think is the safest thing, spend a good bit more $ on bogarts, or go to drag brakes in the rear and eliminate the abs/tcs.

I would use the M/T ET Drag 10.5 x 26 15, and look into the stiff sidewall as you are a stick car.
I used those tires when I had 4.10's in the car and I loved them.
