Value of a Turbocharged LS1/T56 fbody???
This being the forced induction area i was thinking you guys would answer this question best... How much would you guys pay for a nice 98-02 LS1 Fbody that has been turbocharged and running correctly and nothing is or has broken etc etc...(even though things WILL eventually break lol)
**For example, 98 Trans Am 60K miles, stock motor/T56 tranny, centerforce clutch, intercooled single turbo at 5-8psi keeping A/C and all components, fuel system for 550rwhp, stock rear-end (3.42), and basically stock all the way around as far as "daily driver" comforts go and physical appearance of car go... Overall condition of car being 8 out of 10 or better. (ie. leather interior, decently clean inside and out)

Id say take the cost of the mods minus labor divided by 2 then add that to the blue book. That should give you a rough asking price, add 750.00 more for negotiating purposes.

I went with "less than", mainly because you're still on the stock motor and tranny.
If I were buying, I'd be expecting to rebuild/replace one or both... and taking that cost into account in my offer.
One thing's certain, though: the longer you can hold onto the car, the greater your chances of finding a buyer that's willing to pay closer to what you'd like.

Yea gotcha, im also taking that into account...I mean it could last a while but as soon as someone starts abusing it:shifting it hard, launching it hard or anything major, things are bound to let go. But if someone were to take care of it and just drive like a sane human being 'most' of the time, it should last a good while on 5-7psi with a close to perfect tune...The new owner should just roll race the car from 2nd on up to avoid breaking **** imho, that would save the rear end from some abuse at least lol In the first post i did mention that things WILL eventually break because that just the nature of these cars, and all other high-performance cars for that matter...but for around$10,000 i think its a still kind of a steal so we will see. And Derek, i am just getting an idea of something i'd like to do, i will get pictures when i get a chance...thanks for all the input guys.

I'd ask $15k for it. I bet you'd get it if you can wait awhile and the car itself is in good condition. If you're going to sell it this is the season. I was looking at a 2002 Honda Accord Couple for a daily driver, they go for about $10k too. Pretty sad that a high-hp, fun-to-drive car goes for the same price.

Anyone who buys it will need to replace the rear the motor just to race the dam thing . Not sure if these items will cut your profits too much if it had say built motor and a decent rear (cause 550 t56 its not going to last long )you could probably get quite a bit more for a nice turn key

There is a ton of work involved in just having a fast fbody, let alone a turbocharged one, whether it be stock motor/rear-end or not, theres alot of money invested. A nice fbody used to go for some coin and on top throw all the turbo stuff with supporting mods...it adds up REAL quick and i gaurantee way over $15K. And no barnat this is no home made hack job with truck manifolds lol this is all professional stuff while maintaining a/c for the guys that live in 100* weather (like the texas guys, and like me here in hot humid *** Miami, Florida ) But overall i hear you guys, stock rears suck big time because thats a big costly item that will eventually push the car more towards the "bulletproof side of the spectrum" but if the car had a moser rear and a built motor then it would be safe to ask in the $15K+ range for it since it would technically have "everything" that previously needed to be replaced for high horsepower(motor/rearend). This is all just something im thinking of doing, might sell the car-might not, depending on my next financial move and projects. We will see though...keep the feedback coming tho, i appreciate all of it

The car will always be worth much more to you than to any prospective buyer. That's one of the reasons I've kept mine, and probably always will...
I wouldn't do anything more to the car to try to make it more "sell-able". A clean car that's got impressive power (and runs well) will eventually sell at a good price... you just have to wait until the right guy comes along.

it has been my experience that when you mod a car. you will not get your money back for the parts. example...my buddy had an '04 Cobra. mint 10K miles. everything was done and documented by an extremly reputable shop in the area. it had a whipple blower, full exhaust, 75 shot of hose. and most bolt ons. he sold it for the cars sticker price.

I must be that guy,lol. I paid alot for the one I bought, but it does make 860 RWHP and built right. I paid 28K for it, and don't intend selling it. To each there own, I've had cars built before and always took a loss. Mine has serious modifications done but worth it to me when I'm spanking those Vipers at the track,lol.
