Default VAT System problem.

Hey everyone. This is on my 00 WS6 Formula. I just had the VAT system turned off by a local tuning place and the system is still acting as if it's turned on. It don't make sense; even to the tuner. I'll go and start the car and it will do fine at times. Other times the security system say's "no go" and the security light comes on. Anyone else run into this problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Ben

Not a VATS expert, but don't think you can just turn it completely off with a tune. Measure the resistance of you key and use a resistor that closely matches to bypass it.

If you turn off VATS in the PCM, that only disables the "fuel cut" portion of it. Some of the vehicles also have a VATS relay which disables the starter feed from the ignition switch.

Default VAT's System

I've noticed that the fuel pump does kick on, so I stopped by Radio shack to try the bypass trick. Thanks for the help.

You probably have an intermittant short in the wires going from the cylinder through the column. Might be worth investigating prior to bypassing the entire system.
