Default Re-Working 317's Worth It?

I'm putting together a 6.0 (Lq4) intended for a 1968 1/2 ton truck so low/mid range torque & power is the goal. I'm currently looking into a LPE GT2-5 cam (222/222, .566/.566, 112CL) & don't know what should be done as far as the heads (I see many people opting for different heads).

Is it not worth having the originals re-done? If so, who does stock heads & upgrades them? It seems for a mild application like mine, aftermarket heads are overkill & the $$ could be better utilized in other areas for a better overall package.

I'll be using a free flowing true dual 2.5" exhaust w/some stepped headers most likely (1 5/8 to 2" to 3" collectors) & sticking w/the truck intake w/a P&P TB.

Educate me please.....

Default

the 317s are very similar to the 243 head but have a larger combostion chamber....they flow really well so id say you are good to reuse them...
