Default Keyless Entry Question

i bought an 2001 B4c camaro and it does not have keyless entry. I want to add it and i checked my factory codes and i do not have the option for it.I was thinking about adding an after market one.I would like to know which one works good and i dont care about remote start. I have a wrecked 98 camaro that does have keyless entry from the factory that i could use if i knew how to install it. I would like some help in trying to figure out what the best option would be for me. Thanks

I'll let you in on a little secret...

The keyless entry system is controlled by the BCM and there are only two different BCMs available for 96-02 Camaros - one with the alarm system and one without. Both have keyless entry built-in. All you have to do is buy and program the key fobs (of course you need power locks or it's rather pointless).

Personally,I would just get the aftermarket. Sounds like a lot of screwing around otherwise..Or just get a cheap alarm put on it..Just my .02 cents

Oh, let's see...buy an aftermarket alarm/keyless entry system and either pay someone to install it or wire it yourself

OR...

just buy a factory key fob and follow the owner's manual instructions to program it?

Sounds to me like the factory key fob is a lot less screwing around.

That was my thought as well...which kind of makes keyless entry pointless.

It has power locks.
I tried to program it like the owners manual said to and it did not work. I know i was doing it right because i programed my dads camaro and it worked. What can i try now to get it to work or am i going to have to buy an after market one.
