Default lt1 running 10 lbs boost?

Okay so Im considering running about 10 lbs of boost and just curious what all would need to be done for the car to still be reliable? Forged everything? Or just rods pistons???

With the LT1 I would go with a whole forged rotating assembly, meaning the crank, rods and pistons. Bob

The stock lt1 crank will be plenty strong, you will want good rods/pistons though. I have my setup for sale(turbo kit, plus forged motor)...

yeah from what i have heard the crank is the strong point on our lt1's and the pistons would be the first replaced canidate. i wonder how much boost the ol'pink rods can handle?!?so far my stock motor is holding up to 8lbs with no probs daily driven.

The Lt1 rods are not "Pink",Very comparable in strength (slightly better). They are powdered metal rods. New rod bolts work wonders.

I ran my stock motor with 10-11psig for about 35k miles making 45orwhp through an automatic before it lost compression. During that time, I went through several built 4l60e's, a T56, and 2 pairs of head gaskets.

On mine, the rings failed. No broken parts other than them. Looks like they got brittle and started cracking up.

I drove this car daily, tallying an easy 2-300 miles per week. I even made weekly trips to the track (a 45 minute drive down the interstate) and back home. Usually the trip home was a non stop high speed blast with several other cars.

I swear by using good gas with a really good tune. Also, a wideband being permanently installed helps tremendously. Watch it like a hawk.
