Default I need help!!!!!!!!!!ls1 in 67 camaro

Hi everyone. Im 17 and have been rebuilding my 67 camaro for a few years now, along with saving some $$$. I have currently a 67 with a 350 ps pb drum no a/c. I am wanting to stick in ls1 in her with a 5k budget. Now I found a crashed 99 camaro with a straight frame and good engine and tranny for 4k. Is it possible/practicle for me to strip the 99 to just a rolling chassis and stick her under my 67 using th 99 brakes rear end drivetrain ls1 tranny and a/c and heater? or should i just find a ls1 engine tranny combo and stick it on my 67 subframe.

THx for all imput and help

j

i dont think so, the 4th gen is a unibody, so no frame like on the 67. you can, however, use the motor and tranny from it.

The 7.5" rear end from the 99 is junk. Stick with the 8.2" in the 67 and install a posi unit with some nice gears. brphotrods.com sells adapters brackets to fit the ls1 brake setups. The LS1 fbodys arent full frame cars. the front subframe will not bolt up at all, and the rear end suspension will not either without some massive modifications and just to have an inferior rear end.

you cannot do it for $5k. trust me. I'm into mine for almost 8k now and i paid $710 for my complete LS1.

Lets do a run down of the items I feel it would take to accomplish this...

Lets be simple a sump the fuel tank
by doing this we will retain the factory gauge for now

Then lets add a fuel pump to the mix.......

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Walbr...spagenameZWDVW

You can do the vette regulator or My preference is the aeromotive unit
http://aeromotive.carshopinc.com/pro..._id/3263/13109

Depending on what line you intend to run braided or socketless will determine the pricing on the fuel lines and fittings......But Lets estimate high at around 300.00

Conversion pan for F body

Conversion mounts for F body

Headers for F body or manifolds can be used

Now when doing wiring there are a few ways to go about this, the first is to rework the harness yourself. Second is to pay someone to rework the harness at about 300.00 dollars, or you can go with a series of aftermarket harnesses such as the painless unit that I carry. I am showing you the unit with the extra length this allows for the pcm to be mounted inside the car leaving you with a cleaner look...

Hey John! Nah no track time still dont have the driveshaft made. Everything else is done though. I went ahead and mini tubbed the rear and mounted the adjustable shocks inboard and all. I was just going to have my stock driveshaft modified but have since decided to go with a dennys nitrous ready driveshaft as im going to be spraying a 150 or so on the engine and with 30" MTs and 4.56s that driveshaft is going to be put through some stress.

Those are some nice trickflows man. I'll be putting on a set of Patriot 5.3s once i get the car tagged. When you coming back? I heard you were away? Now that it's warm you can race my LT1 haha. You really out to spend money on a tire bigger than 235 to transfer that power haha. Otherwise you're gonna have trailblazers still walkin ya

$5k is tight but might be possible if you get a cheap LS1/tranny (mine was $2k for both)

factory harness/ecm $250
keep fbody oil pan
make your own engine mounts ($12 or less for steel plate)
headers $560
new fuel tank I'll rework $150-200
fuel pump $120
fuel lines and fittings (hopefully around $100)
computer tuning $500

I spent a lot of upgrades (cam ect) and am still looking to get running for right around $5000 or a hair over.
