This got longer then I thought so sorry about the long read...just got all into it, lol.

So yeah...what a fun ride I had on Mon. I live in Tucson and went to L.A. to visit some buddies last week. Didnt plan on taking my decently modded TA 500 miles one way but plans changed. Besides the pos pump she ran like a champ with H/C and built rear. The car had a slight issuse about 400 miles into the trip to L.A. with my fuel press dropping and car running not so good but I pulled off and let it sit for a good 1 1/2 hour in the shade and put some cooler fuel in the tank. It was cooling down pretty good out so I guess that helped too. Anyway, it started right up with a good 60psi of press and car ran like a champ the whole time I was there and I drove a good 250 miles while I was down there. Now...coming home was no fun. I was gonna leave in the middle of the night like I "planned" to beat the heat but to much...:chug: killed that. I left around 10am wich put me dead smack in the middle of NO WHERE!!! And it was HOT!! atleast 110...I got a 120 miles into the trip and thought I was playing it safe by stopping in Palm Springs to let the car chill for a good 45 or so min and get some fuel in it to keep the tank cooler...ummm, no! I got like 50 miles from there and BAM...my fuel press gauge that is staring at me on the pillar starts to drop so I keep going for a mile or so and its now at like 30 and dropping, I pull off at some exit that goes nowhere and let the car chill, not really doing any good cause its hot as balls out and the nearest tree for shade is back in L.A. So now Im freakin out cause Im seriously in the middle of no where looking at nothing but dirt and desert mnts...and all the cars driving by on the 10. So its been over an hour and Im hot as fuck and start the car and its holding press at 55...and BAM, maybe a mile its dropping again and I see a sign for a rest stop, I do the same thing...now let it sit for maybe a hour. The nearst town is now only 19 miles or so. So I get it, same thing...start up it holds for a little bit and starts dropping. Some how I keep it alive but revving the enging and keeping a load on the car in 6th going up hills and shit...if I let off it will die. I get to the town. Pull into a Dennys...finally eat and again let it sit for good two hours and keep thinking what the fuck am I gonna do. Tucson is like 260 miles away but Phoenix is 120 and there is not a damm thing in between....I really wanted to get home but didnt think it was gonna happen. By now I pretty much know that the fuel pump is getting way to hot and wont really get cooled but I wanted to make it to Phoenix not Blythee where I was...DUMP! So again same thing...she this time holds for 25 miles and Im thinking maybe shes ok, the sun is starting to go down its getting cooler out and BAM...drops...Im like fuck it, Im making it. By the time I was 30 miles from phoneix I was holding anywhere from 5 to 15psi...The car would actually run fine at 15 and have a good A/F as long as I could hold it there. I died three times on the freeway...shit sucked. Finnaly I pulled off and crashed at hotel. I lifted my carpet up over the tank and FUCK it was so damn hot....specially behind the seats. I mean hot...you couldnt even leave your hand there if you were touching behind the seats.

Alls I can think off is my aftermaket rear is making more heat then the stocker and my big donkey dick muffler is also right by the tank where it just heating the hell out of the tank. I left Phoenix at 5am to have cool weather back to Tucson which only takes 2 hours, I paced some car doing 100 for a good hour so I made it back pretty fast, I was scared as hell....The press held at 58 the whole time.

So did I screw the pump up anyone think...Think Im gonna get a Racetronix set up. This is a Walbro 255 by the way. Maybe has 7-8k on it. It also usually sits at 60-62psi....guess it cant handle the AZ heat.

This was the worst drive ever!!!

Damn! If you dont already have it, some 5% tint on the hatch might help you out.

Seems like i've been hearing alot of Walbro 255 stories lately. they must not be able to handle heat very well. good to hear you made it home.....with your car.

WHAT?!do u know where the fuel pump is?through the glass under the carpet, through the thick sheetmetal through the gas tank, sitting in fuel.hes saying his muffler and rearend is causing the heat, not the sunlight.

ok sorry man, lol. Yes i know where the fuel pump is.... He was saying it was 110 out which is pretty damn hot if you ask me beating down on that hatch glass. Tint would only help keep that area cooler.

1 of my jobs is a self employed commercial tinter/audio/video sales.Tint isnt going to cause enough of a heat change going through carpet and 2 layers of sheet metal compared to the heat from the road and undercar heat.

update on my ride, shes been fine since I got back. Doesnt seem to go above 59psi though...I used to see about 61psi untill it got hotter out, like ususally the mornings or evenings. Not really sure what Im gonna do. I plan to get a retune done in Phoneix and really dont want to have to worry about my pump.

So one mentioned the racetronix set up and hot wire kit, been hearing some decent things on them, may give em a try. Never heard of the casper setup, will look into that thanks. Specially if its good and cheaper....

I've got the racetronics kit and a MSD BAP, here in El Paso, TX. I also have a 9 inch and hooker cat back and it seems like my fuel pump starts to fade after I've been driving around town. I still can figure out the problem, I was thinking that the fuel pump could not keep up with the fuel needs of my procharger. I think I'm just going to heat wrap by gas tank to keep the heat away. Let me know of any good ideas. I've been living with these problems for two years now, and I don't want to spend any money on a double pump setup.
