Default Chatter when I floor it.

I'm getting some chatter from what I assume is the clutch when I give it medium to heavy throttle. It goes away then seems to come back at high RPMs. Clutch seems to be holding well though. Am I safe to assume that the chatter is from the clutch? The car has an LS6 clutch in it that was installed before I bought the car with 44k miles on it. It has 59k miles now and I'm not hard on the car but I do drive in stop and go traffic at times.

If it's chattering under moderate-full throttle, the clutch is slipping. Either the clutch isn't engaging completely or it's about toast. Has it always done this or did it just start?

I'd say it started about 3-4k miles ago but it's gotten worse lately.

Is your engagement point really high in the pedal travel....ie, is the pedal quite aways out before the car starts moving?

No. I'd say it's about normal to what my other LS1 cars were when new.

Don't know if it's the same problem, but check under the car at the bellhousing. There's a little rectangular opening. Is there any fluid there?

My buddy had the same problem for awhile. Turned out clutch fluid was slowly leaking onto the clutch until one day.. just totally went.

I replaced his slave and hosed off the clutch. No more chatter.

His chatter sounded close to gears grinding it was so violent though

Sucks to hear, but it's probably time to pull the trans and inspect the clutch.
