Default The Poor Mans ls1

I thought you guys would get a kick out of my build. Turbo/meth 3.4l. Should be running in a week or 2. Looking to match stock ls1 numbers as far as HP goes. Goal is to beat my uncles 07 Mustang GT. More pics to come...

My prediction: Its gonna Then you're gonna

But best of luck to ya. I love seeing this kind of stuff too. What kind of tuning software is available for the 3.4's anyway? How do you plan on tuning it?

IMHO its waaaay less time and energy spent to go the turbo route, especailly since I have limited tools/help. There is no real tuning available for the car, unless you build a stand alone. Im ganna use a cartech FMU and #24 injectors to get a rough tune. I might look more into megasquirt if I cant get it to run right.

There is quite a bit more to the swap than just throwing a V8 in there! It nickel and dimes you! Oil pan and pickup, balancer, alternator, water pump, power steering, K member, transmission?, Power steering rack, ECM, wire harness, intake, it goes on and on. Much more than people are going to want to "donate". I like the turbo plan. The 3.4 isn't the most durable, but it should be interesting!

I am a big fan of putting an ls1 in anything. If its not fast enough, ls1 always helps.

But the v6 turbo, very nice, its unique. I like it.

I like it. Pretty easy to make a V8 car fast. But you will really have a great sleeper when you are done.

turbos are the best replacement for displacement. good luck with the build. definitely work out a tune of some sort if you want it to last!

the tb on a 3.4 is small,
i helpd a friend build a turbo system for a 95 m5 3.4, camaro
the trans is a t5 with a 1 1/8 26 spline input shaft, the trans was pretty strong, but the motor did not like psi,
he used a begi mrfpr, it replaced the stock fpr and also acted as the adj. fmu
the turbo was a t60, using 30 lb. inj., it ran pig rich, but i would have to say it spooled the turbo pretty good, and saw 10+psi, felt like a bolt on's ls1
but the engine went on a hard run, it blew a gasket and locked the engine, but it run hard

I STRONGLY urge you to consider the AEM F/IC. I have one on my PWC and it would be perfect for you.

Thats only obd2 where as I think I have OBD1.5 with a OBD1 port. Stupid 3.4 computer

And I have to give it up to TIAGO. He paved the way and was the first to prove all the 3.4 nay sayers wrong.
