Update in post #123 4/13/12

My daugther took this photo on the last Thursday in May of my car leaving on a 3,000 RPM footbrake NA, no power adder launch at a special event that I was invited too.

The car ran a 1.471 60 ft time, 6.819 1/8 mile ET at 99.19 MPH and a 10.784 1/4 mile ET at 123.45 MPH. I then backed that run up with a 1.474 60 ft time , 6.819 1/8 mile ET at 99.18 MPH and a 10.789 1/4 mile ET at 123.22 MPH in 80degree temps at 2:00 PM in the afternoon with a track temp around 115 +/-.

I thought you all would like to see the photo. She is really getting pretty good at taking action photos.

What are the specs on the setup?

Here is most of it!

Formula hardtop, 346 CI LS1, heads and cam with boltons, stalled auto, 4.10 gears at 3,440 lbs.

The car has been a lot of hard work and it has been fun. It started life with me in December 2002 at 91K miles totally stock not one performance part in it or on it at 3,665 lbs, after I installed the roll cage. I had been racing my other WS6 cars and decided I had better build one instead of abusing them. I raced the car for 5 years with the totally stock engine with LS1 intake and headers never took the valve covers off ran 8.30's NA with stock transmission and convertor with 3.23 gears, then in 2005 new 3.70 rear end ran 8.00's, then in 2006 new transmission with stall convertor ran 7.60's NA and 7.30's on a 75 hp dry shot.

2007 brought the pump gas engine change with mild cam, rear gear change to 4.10 due to RPM increase of new engine and more weight reduction results 6.77 ET- 101 MPH 1/8 mile best to date NA and 10.75 ET - 123.5 MPH 1/4 best to date NA. This on a footbrake stall of 3,000 RPM's best 60 foot to date is a 1.407.

So the journey started at 8.30's in 2003 and continues today at 6.70's!!! I have but not installed yet bigger fuel injectors, new intank fuel pump so I can use my NOS dry kit with the new enigne setup and LPE two step so I can start using the transbrake.

Here is a better photo of the car leaving the line not sure why it looks like it does!

Great photo Jeff, I mean Katherine. The next time we are together at the track I want her to take some photos of my car. I'm glad that your car has been running strong and consistant with the new combo. I can't wait for cool fall weather so we can both run new best times.

I was very pleased with how the car performed on May 30, 2008. I went back and reviewed the runs where I knew the car launch good and I shifted the gears correctly and here is what I found. The results of the best five runs are below!

The best sixty foot was 1.457 and the worst was 1.481 (.024) diff

The best 1/8 ET was 6.819 and the worst was 6.855 (.036) diff

The best 1/8 MPH was 99.19 and the worst was 98.68 (.51) diff

The best 1/4 ET was 10.784 and the worst was 10.835 (.051) diff

The best 1/4 MPH was 123.45 and the worst was 122.99 (.46) diff

Not to bad considering all runs were made from 2:16 PM to 3:50 PM a total of 95 minutes from start to finish.

Here is an update!

We went up to I-40 Dragway in Crossville, TN. on July 11, 2008 and the car ran almost the same as it did on May 9, 2008 the last time I was at I-40 Dragway.

Here is a comparsion!

On May 9, 2008 in the left lane at 7:09 pm, My car ran 1.501 60 ft 4.460 330 ft 6.973 ET at 99.701.

On July 11, 2008 in the left lane at 7:39 pm, My car ran 1.51 60 ft 4.468 330 ft 6.977 ET at 99.757.

On May 9, 2008 in the left lane at 8:39 pm, My car ran 1.500 60 ft 4.459 330 ft 6.967 ET at 99.887

On July 11, 2008 in the left lane at 8:20 pm, My car ran 1.507 60 ft 4.465 330 ft 6.968 ET at 99.993

I did manage two decent times in the right as well on July 11, 2008!

at 7:00 pm, My car ran 1.488 60 ft 4.448 330 ft 6.958 ET at 99.299
at 8:54 pm, My car ran 1.500 60 ft 4.453 330 ft 6.955 ET at 99.610

It is amazing how the weahter affects a cars performance! On a good note it is running consistent even if it is not running in the 80's.

Thanks for the props guys here is an update on the latest track trip!

Some of us went to Knoxville Dragway Friday night August 8, 2008 to have a little fun! We all live on all sides of Knoxville and meet up when we can.

The 80's are a lot better to race in then the 90's for sure. I have some results some may find interesting. I was last at that track April 18, 2008.

Here is what I posted back in April 2008

Well, the car ran good but the weather and the track was not what I would call great! Man there was alot of people there. I have never seen it like that before. I was only able to make three passes but it looks like the headers are going to be good for a little bit more.

6:55 PM 1st pass - 1.485 60 ft, 4.42 330 ft, 6.929 ET at 97.6 MPH NA
8:37 PM 2nd pass - 1.478 60 ft., 4.419 330 ft, 6.930 ET at 97.5 MPH NA, adjusted limiters improving on the 60 ft but short shifted 1-2 causing loss of ET and MPH.
3rd pass - A waste of time spun off the line.

We had a good time, but all of us were running slower then usual so I do not feel to bad about the effort.

Here is what the results were from August 8, 2008

The track appeared to work for me except on my last run when a car in front of me attempted to do a burn out with slicks and managed to only succeed on the right side only so he carried a little water to the line. My worst 60 ft was a 1.496 and the best of seven runs was a 1.470.

You read correctly "seven passes". There was a lot of people there but the staging lanes moved good all night!!

Here are the results! behind the pass is L for left Lane or R for Right Lane!

7:19 PM 1st pass R- 1.484 60 ft, 4.434 330 ft, 6.953 ET at 97.336 MPH NA
7:41 PM 2nd pass R- 1.496 60 ft, 4.441 330 ft, 6.953 ET at 97.636 MPH NA
8:23 PM 3rd pass L- 1.480 60 ft, 4.425 330 ft, 6.937 ET at 97.604 MPH NA
8:47 PM 4th pass R- 1.490 60 ft, 4.439 330 ft, 6.951 ET at 97.697 MPH NA
9:26 PM 5th pass R- 1.480 60 ft, 4.418 330 ft, 6.925 ET at 97.768 MPH NA
9:43 PM 6th pass L- 1.470 60 ft, 4.407 330 ft, 6.913 ET at 97.858 MPH NA
9:53 PM 7th pass R- 1.480 60 ft, 4.419 330 ft, 6.941 ET at 97.235 MPH NA

The car seemed to be dead on. I pushed it on the 7th pass and came right back to the staging lanes and then lost traction at the line on the left wheel and hit the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift.

Look at the 8:37 PM run from April and the 8:23 PM run from August. Look at the 6:55 PM run from April and the 9:26 PM run from August.

All in all a very good night considering it was in August.

The suspension is all Sphon Performance stuff. The best NA 60 ft to date was a 1.407 and man did it feel good! The sway bar is their drag bar and I have QA 1's single adjust struts with QA 1 275 lb. springs in the front and stock shocks and springs on the back.

I am really pleased with the way the car is performing. I am changing out the stock fuel pump now and changing from 28.8 lb. injectors to 42 lb. so I can try some nitrous runs. I wonder what it will 60 foot on a 100 HP shot! I look forward to finding out.

I have two videos of my car running 10.75 at 123+ NA runs I am trying to get posted up stay tune! Both videos are pretty good one from inside the car and one from outside at the starting line. The cars exhaust sounds really good after the burn out!

I finally got the in car video run loaded. The track is Jackson SC. The car ran 10.75 at 123+ NA. The car is launching at 3,000 RPM's on the foot brake.

Let me know what you think! I will be loading the trackside video of a similar run at the same track from the same lane. It gives you a different look from inside and outside the car.

Thanks for the props the car seems to be working very well on the in car video run the 1/8 mile time was 6.777 and on the trackside video the 1/8 mile time was 6.790.

At that same track with the 90K mile stock engine with only long tube headers, LS1 intake and full exhaust with muffler removed and turn down added the car ran 11.94 at 111.17 with a 7.533 1/8 mile ET and a 1.543 60 foot in 2006 and the car weighed 3,665 lbs at that time and had 3.70 gears so you can see even with weight reduction and the new engine the best NA 60 foot is 1.401.

Let me share the basics on the car I have covered most of it in previous post on this thread. It is a 346 CI LSX engine with heads, cam, headers, 90 FAST with NW 90 throttle body, turbo 400 with stall, 4.10 spooled Billingsley Racing rearend and weighs 3,415 lbs. The cage is a S&W 12 pt. mild steel with custom door bars to allow factory door panels. I have all Spohn products under the car including torque arm.

We went to I-40 Dragway Friday September 20, 2008 and the air was not as good as I had hoped, there seemed to be a lot of moisture in the air! However the car seemed to work pretty good! I got to meet some new folks and was able to make four NA runs between the track being oiled down and cars breaking, but that is racing for sure.

1st pass left lane 18:43, 1.483 60 ft, 4.408 330 ft, 6.898 ET @ 100.497 MPH
2nd pass right lane 19:21, 1.475 60 ft, 4.402 330 ft, 6.893 ET @ 99.94 MPH
3rd pass left lane 19:42, 1.490 spun, 4.423 330 ft, 6.915 ET @ 100.454 MPH
4th pass left lane 21:00, 1.482 60 ft, 4.399 330 ft, 6.876 ET @ 101.006 MPH

Thanks Jim for allowing us the chance to come and race!

New update!

We went up the mountain Friday night October 3, 2008 and had a blast! The Howes had the track dead on!

Here is what the Formula did, all six runs NA!

18:38 right lane 1.453 60 foot, 6.836 ET at 102.517 MPH
19:03 left lane 1.466 60 foot, 6.848 ET at 101.223 MPH
19:43 left lane 1.468 60 foot, 6.850 ET at 101.143 MPH
19:48 left lane 1.453 60 foot, 6.819 ET at 101.411 MPH
20:14 right lane 1.455 60 foot, 6.823 ET at 102.900 MPH
20:16 right lane 1.460 60 foot, 6.818 ET at 101.252 MPH

I am really happy with the last three runs! Round up and down and you have only three hundreds difference on all six runs. I loved the 102.90 MPH run!

Finally got to the 1/4 mile track again! We headed to Beech Bend Dragway in Bowling Green, KY Saturday October 25, 2008 and had some fun. The track was working very well and the DA was between 1,100 to 1,300 most of the day. Got to weigh the car with me in it and it was 3,423 lbs.

I almost equaled my best ET from Jackson SC last November well I guess I did equal the ET it was only .002 off 10.752 in Jackson and 10.754 at Beech Bend. In Jackson I had a 1.417 at Beech Bend I had a 1.449 60 foot.

I did however get a new best MPH to date of 124.14 NA. First time above 124 MPH's.

Here is the breakdown, all runs were in the right lane.

1:20 PM 1.460 60 ft, 6.807 1/8 ET @ 99.60 MPH, 10.777 1/4 ET @ 123.81 MPH
2:21 PM 1.459 60 ft, 6.810 1/8 ET @ 99.42 MPH, 10.787 1/4 ET @ 123.61 MPH
3:16 PM 1.454 60 ft, 6.808 1/8 ET @ 99.45 MPH, 10.780 1/4 ET @ 123.97 MPH
4:39 PM 1.449 60 ft, 6.790 1/8 ET @ 99.64 MPH, 10.754 1/4 ET @ 124.14 MPH

Here is the video of the 4:39 PM run. I did an extra long burn out even went to third gear trying to get the tires hot!

Well I have been working on ensuring it will go faster next time we head out!

So far I have removed another 25 lbs. from the car and getting ready to install the fuel pump, wiring harness and injectors. The injectors are 42 lb injectors that have been flow matched! I got another 70 lbs. I will be removing!

My luck has not been good the last two weeks! The fuel pump assembly has been a pain to get out. I thought I had cut my trap door for nothing. I almost had to dropped the tank again. It took forever to get the ring to release. I would get the one that was superclued down! The plug and play harness was a piece of cake and is a very good piece!

Hopefully I will get everything wrapped up and we will be heading to the dyno on December 5, 2008. I attached some photos!

Yeah that makes me laugh everytime I watch the video! I think he wanted to run me pretty bad. When I drove through the pits he jumped in his car and followed me to the staging lanes. Not only did he do the back up burn out but he did a John Force burnout passed the lights. It was cool racing another Pontiac!

Then he turned the relight on and I have no ideal how much nitrous he was using but it sure looked like a lot. I won that race on both ends of the track!

See you in the morning Jeff. I'll have my ear protection and be ready to tune.

The ear protection worked great! Thanks for your help!

Well, I finally finished the install on the Racetronix fuel pump last Saturday as most of you all know I have been having some trouble getting the ring off the pump.

I installed the new 42 lb flow matched injectors last night and my good friends and I went to the dyno this morning for further tunning after they installed the new tune to scale the injectors.

The Mustang Dyno was programmed with 3,600 lbs. for the weight of the car which included me and my friend that was doing the tunning. I put 21 lbs of air in the M/T ET Drags and made the test run to make sure all was ready and the dyno was recording correctly.

I pushed on the brakes and clincked the line lock got the rollers going then shifted into 2 nd gear ran it up to 3,400RPM's shifted into 3 rd and brought it up to 3,000 RPM's and stomped on the go pedal!

The results are as follows!

397 HP at 560 lbs.96 HP of Torque, the afr was 12.5, changed the program tried again!

396 HP at 502 lbs. of Torque, the afr was 12.8, changed the program one more time and tried again!

400 HP at 579 lbs. of Torque, the afr was back to 12.5, ready for nitrous!

Put the 15 lb. nitrous bottle in the car at 875 PSI turned it on purged the line got the rollers going move into 3rd gear brought to 3,000 RPM's and stomped on the go pedal and pushed the go button on a 45 HP dry shot at the engine and now my wife and I have a devil car. Most folks would say why even bother with such a small shot? I guess the devil made me do it! LOL

429 HP at 666 lbs. of Torque, the afr came down to 11.9 safe for sure.

Thought I would post the result! Now it is time to go racing!!

As some of you have read in previous threads, I installed a new fuel pump and bigger injectors in hopes of finally using my dry nitrous setup I had on the car when I had the original engine in the car. All of my previous times to date have been NA. I showed the video of the dyno session where we scaled the injectors in and I posted numbers as well, but we all know the only numbers that really matter is what the car does at the track!! The car made 400 HP NA on a Mustang Dyno in race trim with ET Drags on it, who knows what the torque was that is still in question!

I thought I would share my most recent trip to the dragstrip with you! We headed down to Steele Al. yesterday driving in the rain most of the entire 190 mile tirp thinking I would never even get to pull the car out of the trailer man was I wrong. We must have looked pretty hard up to race since we were the first ones in line to race, it has been since October 24, 2008 since I raced last so I did want to race! LOL.

Well the crew was working on the track when we got there and they spent alot of time on it and money as well! We paid our $40.00 dollars and pulled in got the car out and warmed it up. All runs were made leaving on a 3,000 RPM Footbrake launch as usual since that is where I think the car actually makes torque. I made five NA runs and two Nitrous runs, a 45HP and a 75 HP dry shot at the engine. The Nitrous runs were done only through second and third gear no first gear or at launch.

The DA was at +1,840 all day!

2:18 PM, 60ft 1.441, 1/8 6.84 at 99.46, 1/4 10.82 at 123.18, late on 2-3 shift.

2:45 PM, 60ft 1.442, 1/8 6.83 at 99.04, 1/4 10.78 at 123.30

3:13 PM, 60ft 1.445, 1/8 6.79 at 100.03, 1/4 10.74 at 123.89, new best for a short time that day!

4:06 PM, 60ft 1.434, 1/8 6.73 at 101.15, 1/4 10.61 at 126.99, 45 HP Nitrous shot 2nd and 3rd gear.

4:49 PM, 60ft 1.449, 1/8 6.72 at 102.02, 1/4 10.56 at 127.31, 75 HP Nitrous shot 2nd and 3rd gear let out in 2nd when car started spinning got back in it.

5:22 PM, 60ft 1.432, 1/8 6.81 at 99.59, 1/4 10.75 at 124.06, late on 2-3 shift again.

5:28 PM, 60ft 1.440, 1/8 6.78 at 99.64, 1/4 10.72 at 124.00, New best NA ET to date!

We had a great day met some new folks saw some people we knew and made a safe trip each direction! That is what I call a great day!

Only two things did not go well, one the car had to much gas in it from the new pump install and the dyno session. I made all of those passes and even drove it around a lot and still had almost a 1/2 tank in it when I put the car back in the trailer, second the wife ran out of video tape and did not get the new best ET run to date! I will post some videos soon!

i was noticing your dyno numbers, dont sound right. 429 hp and 666 tq. 666 tq is crazy for that setup. my car on a 75 shot made 448 hp 436 tq but then again your car is alot faster than mine was. its time to spray that beast out of the hole man....any reason you arent doing that?

Care to share some suspension specs?dum Awesome ride man.dum Congrats on the success :)

Sure, I Have no problem with sharing my efforts!

I have installed poly mild steel tubular Spohn LCA, Drag sway bar, Torque Arm, K-member, Upper and lower A-arms and QA1 R shocks with 275 lb. springs in front only! I made my on travel limiters. I have stock shocks and stock springs in rear! I also have airbag in the right spring which I had before I added the Drag sway bar.

I have the front shocks set on full loose. I have the travel limiters set to allow 4 inches of travel on the front at this time! I have the rearend angle set at -2 degrees! ET Drags are set anywhere from 15 to 16.5 lbs. depending on track conditions. I have the rear airbag pumped up to 25 lbs. I have the front shocks threaded 49 threads from the bottom of the shock. I have tried to set the front end alignment for drag racing!

I Footbrake to 3,000 RPM's and wait on the last yellow stomp on the gas and go!

Hope this helps!

Thanks it is running pretty good! I am really pleased with it! The 429 HP dyno run was using a 45 shot at the engine. The torque was at 490 before pushing the button. I posted the 666 becuase I thought it was kinda cool! That was a convertor spike when I stomped on the gas!

The car dynoed 400 HP NA and 429 HP on a 45 HP dry shot! Since I have a non lock up convertor the TQ numbers are a little different. This was also on a Mustang dyno with slicks through a TH400 and 9 inch spooled rearend. So the engine is making good power when you consider how much it is loosing through the rest of the power train.

With my stock engine I had a micro switch at the throttle body with the FAST and Nick Williams I have to make a bracket for the micro switch to work so I can launch with the nitrous. On December 27, 2008 that was the first two runs with nitrous on the new engine after running it NA since I installed it. I just wanted to make sure everything was working correctly. The other factor is I am not sure how much higher it is going to want to come up on the nitrous in the front.

Dry Nitrous advice needed since I have not used nitrous in two years!

We are working on a new tune and I have a question. If you have your NA tune in the car with timing at 30 degrees and are using 104 unleaded race gas and will be using a dry shot with 75 HP jets max does the timing need to be retarded at all? Also running TR55's at .048 gap. Should I reduce the gap to .044?

AFR is 12.8 WOT NA run and 11.2 +/- WOT on Nitrous with bottle pressure at 900 PSI. I think with it at 950 to 1000 PSI the AFR should be at 11.6 +/-.

346CI at 11to1 compression ratio.

Thanks for your input!

We had a great time at the track and came back with a new best NA and Nitrous run. The temp was 52 degrees and sunny. The DA was -150 most of the day!

I made 11 quarter mile runs starting at 1:10 PM and ending at 4:40 PM! I made 6 - NA runs and 5 - 75 HP Nitrous runs! I made 5 sets of runs two at a time 4 minutes apart except for one run where I did an in car video of the NA A/F ratio!

Here are the results!!

New best NA – 1.394 60 ft., 6.643 1/8 mile ET, 101.07 MPH and 10.532 1/4 mile ET, 125.80 MPH.New best Nitrous – 1.343 60 ft., 6.483 1/8 mile ET, 104.22 MPH and 10.254 1/4 mile ET, 129.40 MPH.

I hit the nitrous at launch and had to let off the gas pedal to about half throttle due to the car coming up off the ground higher then usual. Once it started coming back down I stomped on the go pedal to finish the run. I was told it was within 2 to 4 inches of dragging the back bumper no photo or video! I have an in car video of that run since I was taping the A/F ratio to ensure the tune was good.

I do have a trackside video of the nitrous run where the car produced a 10.353 ET at 129.51 MPH using the nitrous in 2nd and 3rd gears only.

I have attached the time slips and will post videos soon!

Well I got the car to the track Saturday March 7, 2009 to finally try out the T-Brake with the LPE 2-step and had a blast.

I ran it 11 times at the 1/8mile track I go to in less than 4 hours. It was kind of warm out around 70 degrees with a pretty good headwind most of the day. All runs were N/A on a nitrous tune. Went to run some nitrous passes but somehow the bottle was empty. Everyone stated the two-step would make the car run more consistent and it did pretty good.

I ran 4 trans brake runs here are the results.

4:28 PM 1.473 60 foot 6.899 ET at 100.442 MPH Right Lane
5:42 PM 1.475 60 foot 6.899 ET at 100.374 MPH Left Lane
6:14 PM 1.474 60 foot 6.902 ET at no MPH Right Lane, truck wrecked and took out the MPH light at the top end of the track.
6:23 PM 1.473 60 foot 6.889 ET at no MPH Right Lane

The break down on the NA runs I grouped by 60 foot times!

2:42 PM 1.488 60 foot 6.919 ET at 100.569 MPH Left Lane
4:22 PM 1.485 60 foot 6.910 ET at 100.033 MPH Right Lane

2:45 PM 1.469 60 foot 6.876 ET at 100.550 MPH Right Lane
3:21 PM 1.472 60 foot 6.854 ET at 100.472 MPH Right Lane

6:28 PM 1.459 60 foot 6.857 ET at no MPH Right Lane

Race Setup vs. Street Setup LOL!

As talked about before take a look at what a car will do depending how well the track is prepped! No change at all to the car or tire combo! Weather temp was almost the same at both tracks.

First video is of two runs I posted before!

1.421 60 ft. , 4.245 330 ft. , 6.677 ET 1/8 mile at 100.78 MPH

1.394 60 ft. , 4.224 330 ft. , 6.643 ET 1/8 mile at 101.07 MPH

Second video is of my run Friday night April 3, 2009, looks like I had street tires on! Track was just not there no biggie just thought it was worth posting for folks to see.

1.614 60 ft. , 4.965 330 ft. , 7.646 ET 1/8 mile at 92.96 MPH. I was not even able to shift into third gear on this run.

Everyone,

I thought I would bring this back for a new update! I have been looking at changing from 26 inch slicks to 28 inch slicks so I could increase the nitrous shot at the ¼ mile tracks. Well I finally got under the car and moved the rearend forward and got everything reset. I then took the car to the track on October 11, 2009 to make sure it still performed with the 26 inch tires on it like it has always performed to make sure I did not mess anything up on the suspension.

Here are the results
1st run @ 2:29 PM - 1.450 60 foot, 6.819 1/8 mile ET at 101.45 MPH Left lane NA
2nd run @ 2:34 PM – 1.447 60 foot, 6.802 1/8 mile ET at 101.63 MPH left lane NA
3rd run @ 4:56 PM – 1.468 60 foot, 6.870 1/8 mile ET at 100.00 MPH left lane NA
4th run @ 4:05 PM – 1.473 60 foot, 6.876 1/8 mile ET at 100.89 MPH left lane NA
5th run @ 5:56 PM – 1.407 60 foot, 6.599 1/8 mile ET at 105.04 MPH left lane 75 Dry Shot
6th run @ 5:59 PM – 1.415 60 foot, 6.598 1/8 mile ET at 105.18 MPH left lane 75 Dry Shot

So as you can see the car worked great. I then took it home and installed the 28 inch slicks came back exactly seven days later on October 18, 2009 to the same track with almost the same weather conditions of +1600 to +1900 DA!

Here are the results

1st run @ 2:49 PM – 1.489 60 foot, 6.833 1/8 mile ET at 101.593 MPH left lane NA, too much air in tires
2nd run @ 2:52 PM – 1.452 60 foot, 6.789 1/8 mile ET at 102.039 MPH left lane NA, less air in tires
3rd run @ 3:19 PM – 1.431 60 foot, 6.545 1/8 mile ET at 106.367 MPH left lane 75 Dry Shot after launch
4th run @ 3:22 PM – 1.431 60 foot, 6.583 1/8 mile ET at 106.091 MPH left lane 75 Dry Shot after launch
5th run @ 3:56 PM – 1.389 60 foot, 6.489 1/8 mile ET at 106.655 MPH left lane 75 Dry Shot at launch

Needless to say I am very pleased with the change from 26 inch to 28 inch slicks! Here is an in car video of the 6.48 run!

Update on how well the car is doing! Since I have so much info in this thread I thought I would bring it back for this update! Hopefully it will be some good info for others!!

We went to Beech Bend in Bowling Green, KY Saturday November 20, 2010 and had a very good time.

1st pass off the trailer was a shake down pass, I ran a 10.774 ET at 124.34 MPH with a 1.444 60 foot in the right lane at 1:15 PM.

2nd pass after some suspension adjustments I ran a 10.628 ET at 125.20 MPH with a 1.408 60 foot right lane at 2:45 PM.

3rd pass coming right back to the staging lanes ran a 10.677 ET at 125.08 MPH with a 1.444 60 foot left lane at 2:53 PM.

Then I put the 125 HP Nitrous tune in the car and the jets and had some big time wheels up action!

4th pass I adjusted the suspension for the nitrous setup and went 9.953 ET at 133.12 MPH with 1.332 60 foot right lane at 3:55 PM. Video attached! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0Hr-wRzOl4

5th pass I tightened the front shocks two more clicks and went 9.964 ET at 132.91 MPH with a 1.427 60 foot right lane at 4:26 PM. Video attached! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IraZB7u9-IY The most interesting number is the 1.427 60 foot time because that appears to be on the back tire instead of the front tire!!

Enjoy the videos!

I got the bottle refilled and it only used 3 lbs. of Nitrous for 3 - 1/8 mile 75 HP nitrous runs and 2 - 1/4 mile 125 HP nitrous runs. Seems pretty cost effective! Hopefully we can sneak it into the 9.8's with the same jets!

Wish me luck! I will keep everyone posted!

We went to Darlington, SC Saturday 2/12/11 and the car ran very well NA. I got a new PB all the way down the timeslip. It started with a 1.38 60 foot time and set a new PB et and mph for 1/8 mile and ended up with a 10.47 at 127.19. Here is the video!

Enjoy!

I also included the time slips from the 10.47 NA pass and the 10.18 Wild Nitrous pass!

Hopefully it will never do that again!!! Going to see if it will go a little faster NA!! It is always funny to me how we all think our cars will go just a little faster! Come to think about it I guess I have chiseled away at it. My first 10 second NA pass was a 10.80 something so it is faster now then it was with not to many changes!

Jon,

The car is doing great and came out of the wheel stand OK. It was one heck of a ride for sure! Took it to the track last Saturday and made 11 passes. Off the trailer it ran a 6.73 and I got it down to 6.71 before trying out the nitrous controller and it is now working perfect! To bad it did not work correctly at Darlington!!

Most of that is covered in post #25

That last run got a little out of the groove looked fun lol

I cannot lie that pass down the track was no fun at all. It started moving around pretty good after the first to second shift and slid out of the groove and I finally slid it back in to the groove on the top end of the track!

Good catch, I was rushing since it was the last day the track was open and we got a late start. I spaced out and forgot to adjust my rear suspension for nitrous and the car was packing the right rear tire pretty good into the track. I should have looked at the videos at the track between runs.

I was really focused on getting a handle on the controller making sure it worked. They had also organized a Bully Dog diesel truck race and they had told me they planned not to keep the starting line prepped.

I should have made the needed adjustment because that last run would have been a good one I was .05 faster in the 60 foot even after letting out to get the car straightened up.

I agree with you 100%!!!!!! On that last run I went to the tower and thanked the track owners for the fun season and they asked why I was packing up. I told them I did not want to be the person that wrecked on the last day the track was open in 2011.

This has been one fun Formy and I should have been better prepared and took my time!

Thanks for the comments and taking a look at the videos still trying to learn this new software and feed back is good.

Feed back on the GoPro stuff is needed ideas on placement of the camera is always welcome! I wish the camera had a remote on and off.

What motor combo do you have? Forged 346?

Post #11 and #25 in this thread tell most of the setup. The engine started life as a new block and has forged internals and was built in 2005!

It has been a great engine combo!!! Best 60 foot NA 1.383, best 60 foot on a 125 HP shot 1.281 all at a weight of 3,290 +/- lbs NA and 3320 +/- lbs with Nitrous!!

Hope this helps!

Well I am not happy with this 5177 dry nitrous kit at all! I think I am going to throw it in the trash ;)!!

We went to the track last night and tested on a ramp controlled 125 HP shot leaving at 50% from the line. Came out with my new best 60 foot and almost tied within one hundredth of a second my best 1/8 mile run using a full 125 HP shot from the launch.

The big difference is until last night my best effort was in -600 DA and last night the DA was somewhere above +1,500!

Here is the breakdown of the slip – 60 foot 1.279, ET 6.276, MPH 111.175 not bad at all for outdated equipment on a little 346 CI LS!!

Congrats on the new best times. I am glad that I could help. Don't forget that as well as the so-called "outdated equipment" you still need a "professional" to tune your engine and suspension. LOL. BTW, watch out for white Oldsmobiles. LOL.

DBN, thanks for all your help Friday night it was fun getting the Fromy out for the first time in 2012 and letting it roll down the track!! Wait a minute it is more fun to be an amateur tuner and suspension setup racer.

I was not for sure how the night was going to go after that Olds crashed all over the track. I was very glad to see the driver was OK.

We went to the LS Fest in Bowling Green, KY and had a blast running in the index class. Setup the car for the 10.50 class and it did its job like usual. The driver needs more practice on the tree but then again I guess when you only go racing every 3 or 4 months what should you expect.

Well I finally got a break from work and got the car out for the first time this year yesterday and had a blast.

It ran great as always. I switched over to a manual master cylinder trying to get better braking. That is going to take a bit to get use to for sure.

1st pass 1.478 60 foot, 6.858 ET at 101.93 MPH
2nd pass 1.473 60 foot, early on the 1-2 shift 6.874 ET at 101.59 MPH
3rd pass 1.471 60 foot, 6.861 ET at 101.74
4th pass 1.455 60 foot, finally got use to the new brakes off the line and got the launch RPM correct 6.842 ET at 101.69

Now if I can get it to be more consistent!
