Air/Fuel - Oxygen Sensor
Hey guys... I've got an Autometer Cobalt Series A/F guage that I need to install... My question is, is this all I need to install it?

I've already got the guage wired, except for the sending line... and have an extra 02 bung welded into my collector...

Stock ones have four wires. One for the signal, one for heater power, one for heater ground, one for sensor ground.
The sensor doesn't work right until it's up to a certain temp. Once you turn the key on your stock sensors heat up in a few seconds with the built in heaters.
One wire sensors rely on exhaust heat as the only source for heat.
It's a very common mod in older vehicles to replace factory one wire O2's with four wires for better performance.

There are a couple of issues with that gauge/sensor
-First, is it a narrowband or wideband o2 gauge? If its a narrowband (just has the little half circle that the lights up) its not going to give you an accurate 02 reading.
-Second, is this a narrow or wideband sensor? I am assuming that its a wideband, but if its a narrowband then all its going to do is just constantly switch from lean to rich and give you a pretty light show on the gauge.
-Third, Like 9000th said, it will give a reading, but it will be delayed untill its heated the whole way.
I dont want to make you feel like Im trying to shoot down your mod, but you might want to look into a wideband gauge. Usually they come with gague, wiring, and wideband o2 sensor.

cool thanks guys for the input
and it's a narrowband A/F guage... at the time (years ago) when I bought it, I didn't really know what I was buying (impulse shopping ) and I know it's pretty much just a light show. That's ok though... I have a proffesional tuner tuning my car with his wideband... I just want my damn guage to work
eventually I might switch it out for a wideband kit... not really on my priority list right now though...

It doesnt look like a bad item. It will make your gauge fairly accurate even though youll have to think a second to realize the #. I think with that you also have an output to for a computer for tuning too. If you want to swap out the gauge later you can prob do that too. About the post above, I dont have any experience w/ innovative products, but Ive heard a lot of good things.

you can use this if you just want your narrow band light show to work. thats what i did and i have no issues. again i know it is not accurate having a narrow band but i have more to do before i need a tune and wideband.
