LS6 cam with 1.8 rockers questions
Most of the 1.8 rockers say they give a 10% increase in lift and work for stock ls1/ls6's, I'm looking at putting in an ls6 cam with rockers, but the cam has .550 lift and at 10% it would be .605. I've heard you shouldnt go above .600, and just wanted to make sure i wasnt going to blow my engine up trying this I still have stock heads, but plan on upgrading to GM ls6 ported heads later when i get more $, should i just wait and do rockers then? My main goal is to add power while keeping the engine sounding stock, would the rockers or heads change idle at all? Thanks ahead of time for any replies.

Re: LS6 cam with 1.8 rockers questions
There is another post in this section on a related topic might want to check that out.
BTW
For most of us the cam change is probably the way to go.
My friends at SRP have done a custom cam designed for a heads and cam package to work with ~1.85 rockers using a cam with less lift, to make life easier on the valve springs and too stay away from having to cut the heads for duals. I think not cutting the heads for duals can allow a little more flexability in how to port the heads. The heads were hand ported and tailored to work with the 1.85's and cam selected. I think it takes a very custom set up to make the 1.85's worth it...like the SRP one. The benefit is getting XE-R like results much milder stress on the valve train and allowing more flexibility in porting the heads.
In other words as part of a custom package 1.85's can make good sense, as a stand alone...I'd just get a TR224 cam or 224 XE-R or something similar.

Re: LS6 cam with 1.8 rockers questions
I agree with 99Blackbird T/A but i think with 918 springs and 02 LS6 cam with 1.85 rockers would deliver XEr type valve action while still passing emissions. This could be very interesting way to make power with stealth cam characteristics. Actual .050" duration effectively would work out to close to 210*/223* and LSA would act tighter with that kind of ratio difference. Any one run something like this?
