Default noob question?

i rev'd my 99 z28 6sp and peeled out for a few seconds.. then i noticed that the clutch was kinda "stuck" to the floor after that. i was still able to move and shift but it wouldnt pop out fully inless i pulled it back with my foot. does the trans do that automatically so that you dont have to stomp all the way down when 'racing"? hmm

thanks!
