Default Do I NEED a new bellhousing?

I finally got to work on the car some more this weekend. I pulled the bellhousing and found two small holes at the top as seen in the pic. Will it be ok to continue using this one or do I HAVE to replace it?

I don't see any need to replace it. that's not likely to take too much structural integrity out of the piece. The better question is what caused 'em? The lower one looks like it might a tooth from the starter... maybe the other one is, too.

If you're not comfortable putting it back on, you could always put a McLeod on there. It'll save your feet in a catastrophy, and you won't have to worry about this happening again.

You can still use it, but I'd have the holes welded shut.

The bell is ok, but definitely something going on there that's scary.. If you don't put on a new SFI bell, at least consider a blanket, and check over the clutch and flywheel very carefully to make sure they're not coming apart.

I did look over the flywheel and no teeth were missing from it. I didn't think to check the starter though, so I will have to do that. Thanks for mentioning that.

I'm replacing the clutch with the LS7 clutch kit.

I bought the car a couple years ago from the original owner. I sorta remember something about him needing either the trans or clutch replaced a couple times under warranty. Maybe he did something to it which caused that. Who knows. I guess I'll just replace it with a McLeod to be safe.
