Default 5.3 or 5.7 heads?

I have the motor apart, and it looks like I might be pulling heads to replace damaged lifters.

Would I have to do anything else to install 5.3 heads? I have a high mileage 5.3 (220k) from an 00 Chevy truck. If I have them and have to buy gaskets and get them surfaced anyway I figure what the hell...

Stock for stock will it be worth it at all? I would have to disassemble the other engine tonight.

I have 7.4 pushrods ready to go in, would that make a difference?

The 5.3 is ok, just making lots of piston slap noise so my brother replaced it before it died on him. He got a used engine cheap so he just swapped instead of rebuilding.

Engine is a 98 by the way, the coils I wanted use arent just going to bolt up to the stock valve covers, the truck heads I have brackets for so that would be another minor plus.

The 5.3 has a small intake valve you will want to install the bigger 2.00".

Don't put stock 5,3 heads on there unless you want to loose power....
