Valvetrain tapping
So yesterday my car gave me the random multiple misfire code. I changed all the plug wires and upon starting the car I hear a tapping noise above the number 4 cylinder. It sounds like a rocker is hitting the valve cover and I'm hoping its just a loose rocker. I'm pulling off the valve cover tonight to inspect. I was planning on doing a cam swap anyway just not so soon.

Also is it possible that the plug wires and/or plugs bieng bad could cause a tapping noise to occur??? I also put seafoam in the crankcase before changing the oil 2 days ago is it possible that I loosened some crap in the bottom end that worked its way up into a lifter?

needles are between the rocker body and piece that the bolt goes thru.
usually the needles are sitting in the oil galley part of the head.
the rocker would/could look crocked.
A magnet can help find them.
I would check valve springs.
a bad spring will give misfires and noise.
they are not obvious to see.
no high revs till you find the problem.
seafoam should not have loosened anything unless the engine was
very very dirty. If you add seafoam to fast you can hydrolock a cylinder.

Well I put everything together with new plug wires still no dice. The valve springs all looked good and everything operated normally when I cranked the engine over with the valve cover off. I'm hearing a bad lifter under injector #4. I just recently replaced the computer and had the dealership flash the new one I don't know if this is related to that. I guess this gives me an excuse to do a camswap. Anyone have any recommendations on a cam.

If i go to a different cam, want my old one.... lol For you, id go with something in the 23x range, under 600 lift and around a 112 lsa. Not to big, but bg enough. But what do other people have to say about nitrous. Not sure how that changes cam specs. Keep me posted man on what happens

I talked to Crane today and they recommended a 228/232 600 lift with a 114LSA. I'm taking it to the dealership to have them figure out why I am getting the random multiple misfire!
