But a 17-mile drive south will save them more than a $2 per gallon. Gas war? Some radio station's wacky promotional stunt? No, Mexican government subsidies that allow filling stations to sell gas for as little as $2.54 a gallon, even less if you have a pocket full of pesos.
Diesel burners have an even greater incentive to make the drive. Diesel prices in San Diego average $5.04. In Tijuana? Only $2.20.
Downside? Of course! Even if you live near enough to the Mexican border, the wait coming back into the States is supposedly terrible, sometimes as long as a two hours. Leave your HUMMER idling that long, and you'll be filling up in Chula Vista.

Why buy a tanker when you can steal one with gas already in it!

I took my 96 Firehawk to Chihuahua MX to visit some family and was worried about the gas. I went during the spring so it wasn’t on the hot or cold side. I was shocked that on my full tank of Mexagas I actually got 32mpg?!?!?! I usually get around 25 to 30 on road trips with Chevron Premium here in AZ, NM & Ca. I figure my mileage on every tank and was careful to get some accurate figures because I was worried I was going to get like 12mpg.

You guys dont want "Tijuana's" Mexico gas trust me, would make your car run like ****, but for those that drive diesel trucks, is well worth the trip. I got a friend that fills up his truck, and brings back with him from 20 to 30 gallons.
