Default rear diff has oily residue

hi, my rear diff has had the greasy/oily residue on it, like the looks of a leak, although none actually falls on the ground ever. i noticed it yesterday. it looks like it's on the bottom of the pumpkin and spreads to in front of the driveshaft and on the torque arm. i have been hearing a little noise coming from the rear of my car and my first thought was gears and i looked under there and that's all i noticed. should i worry about it, or not until it actually leaks? there is a way to check the fluid level, isn't there? thanks.

Check the oil level in the rearend. There is a plug on the passenger side just to the rear of the rear u-joint.Remove the plug and stick your finger in and down. If you can touch oil, its good enough.

I've never seen a 10 bolt on these cars that didn't "sweat" a little. Good advice above.

Check the fluid level, probably just a small pinion seal leak - mines been doing it for a few years but not enough to drip on the ground.
