With horsepower and torque expected to hit 400, the first-ever Pontiac G8 GXP exudes power. Plain and simple. It also has the style and performance to move you in other ways.
It starts with what’s under the hood — a 6.2L V8 LS3 engine that helps you jet from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. To apply that on the pavement, the G8’s four-wheel independent suspension system and wide stance keep you anchored when you’re putting it through its paces.
Add manual transmission, exclusive high-performance-tuned suspension, rear-wheel drive, distinctive look for front and rear, and a sleek body — and you have the ultimate performance sedan. Available 2009.

Last I heard was that they would be hitting dealers in the November/December time frame. This was a post from somone who talked with someone in Pontiac Marketing.

The GXP will be hitting dealers in early 2009. Most likely around Feb.-March. This is what the G8 brand director told us.

The G8 is a nice looking car, I'm thinking of checking out the GXP at the dealership. Just to see one.

4.7 to 60 is extremely optimistic... The GXP is based off Australia's Clubsport model and no one has been able to get close to that kind of time on its identical hardware... On a stock tune of course :)

From what I've been told by my Buick/Pontiac/GMC dealer rep in Elgin, IL, and my son-in-law heard from a Pontiac dealer rep in Kalamazoo, MI, you and "racerns" are both correct. My dealer rep said they're taking build orders this September, with estimated delivery date of November/December 2008. My son-in-law said the dealer rep in Kalamazoo told him they're taking build orders this November, with an estimated delivery date of January/February 2009. LOL! That's just in time for the winter driving season. Good luck Pontiac.

So, is there a price being put out yet? That will be a pretty nice piece with the LS3 abd hopefully a 6-speed in it.

Here is one of many reviews of the G8 GXP:
http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2008/112_0806_2009_pontiac_g8_gxp_first_look/index.html
On page 2 Motor Trend estimates its base price will be $38,000. I've seen guesstimates from $35,000 to $40,000, so $38K is a reasonable estimate. And yes, it's supposed to come with either a 6-speed manual or automatic tranny.

I'm in the market for this type of car.....actually looking at the BMW 335 vs the G8 GXP. Right now the 335 is in the lead because of the twin turbo inline 6's economy combined with ease of performance mods. Iim also considering the Caddy CTS. The turbo beemer also leads the caddy's V6 obviously.....

I also heard late this year. $38k sounds about right that would put it right there with the SRT8 cars.
If you have the $$ I'd just wait for a GXP.

335 resale value is there, and will remain there for quite some time.
You'll take a much bigger hit on a brand new G8.
But if you're looking for a 335, you're going to pay more. Awesome cars, with a ton of modability on the cheap.
I wouldn't turn anyone away from a 335i if one can afford it.
