Don't, just run v-bands on the cold side if you're worried about leakage and trying to push 30psi.

frozenboost.com has vbands for 10 bucks and then flanges for 30 a set, all looks solid from stainless steel, not aluminum ones.

cheap vbands are cheap for a reason. TRUST ME. especially if you are trying to seal boost in, you will want a nicely machined O-RINGED v-band. EXPENSIVE, but well worth it. im speaking from experience on both ends of the spectrum. im running vibrant right now. do it right or don't do it at all.

All of these vband clamps are stainless, I'm using aluminum pipe. I don't think they can be welded together. I need aluminum vbands, do they even make them?

are you talking about the clamps or the flanges or both. from the pictures the clamps themselves looks the same, but i can tell the flanges from vibrant look much better

you need to weld the pipe the the flanges obviously. trust me, those cheap v-bands are shitty. both the flanges and the clamp. flanges don't mate nice and the clamp is weak.

there are actually some exotic boost hard clamps out there. i forgot what they are called, but they are big money for the big boys. they clamp itself is purple.

Yes the ebay stuff is fairly cheap and won't seal, but that doesn't mean your average $45 v-band assembly won't seal. Just buy through a dealer who is up front. Check out turboforums for good v-band deals.

It can be welded, its just damn tricky to get the heat, timing, and fill right, it would have to be TIG welded.

^^^ your not serious right? Welding stainless to aluminum? What filler would you use? twist a stainless and an aluminum filler rod together? I really dont think its possible. I have welded carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, inconel and titanium, and have never seen stainless and aluminum welded together. The only way I have ever seen those two metals welded together is with whats called explosion welding. Get aluminum flanges and be done with it. I dont know if they sell them to the public, but the place where I used to weld all of the exotic metals made v band clamps in all of those materials but carbon. They were for aeropace, but that doesn't matter. Eaton Aeroquip is the name of the company. Yes its the same company that makes Eaton superchargers.
