I have a lid so would drilling the rivets out of the top half and removing the baffle help any? Will it come out in one piece?

I did mine 2 weeks ago. It's real easy, all you have to do it drill out all the rivets and move the baffel around until it comes out. It only to me about 10 minutes. Also yess it's one piece

In reading some of those seems their are two... one in the rear and one in front. Then how did you seal the hood to the box? I can't find where people are buying their BGRA gaskets.

+1 no longer made. You have to custom make one. Buy the materials for home depot maybe its pastic, or pieces of wood and foam of course the screws . I think it's one inch to seal the box. It takes some sanding or grinding down and a lot of time. Or you can buy one from http://fasttoys.net/shop/product_inf...oducts_id=1475

If you already have the BGRA, the gaskets are still available from both http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com and http://www.ls1speed.com. I just picked one up about 4 weeks ago.

I took out just the rear baffle today. Since the other ones in front are riveted and glued I left them in. I think you still get all the air that is available with them in. Anyone disagree?

why leave them? i'd take em out, then it's wide open..

correct, there are two... take them both out, or your just half assing it.

drill out all rivets, and start tugging on the baffles and the glue will eventually come apart and that's all there is to it.

They only deflect down since from what I can see they are about 1" from where they are glued on. I just figured it will direct the air down to where the opening is in my lid, help prevent water from getting back to the filter and thought getting that glue loose without tearing anything up would be a real bitch.

Out of the 7 years I owned an 02 WS6 I never witnessed enough gain to pull the baffles out. I finally pulled them when I had a Big nitrous fed 408 that needed a ton of air, and didn't notice even a bit of difference at the track. To me, it's not worth it. I would hate for a heavy rain storm to send enough water in the wrong direction.

Long story short, I don't think its worth it for the gain.

I took mine out and i can see my filter.And sealed the air box .

I can see taking both out but IMO leaving the fronts will direct the air down with the rain where it can drain out. I don't think those two pieces in the front stops any of the air from making it in.

absolutely correct... it doesn't stop it from getting to the filter at all... it just smoothes out the airflow and creates let turbulence.

whether the gains are there or not I have no idea... it's a free mod, it's your car, do what you like.

I felt like doing it, and it was my first mod ever done back in '02... been driving in the rain and had no problems...

Thats the key is sealing the air box if you remove the front baffles or the back baffles or both. Air will take the path of less resistances
