Is there any way to disable the traction control? Other than the button on the dash. I want to permanatly disable it.

Pull the fuse, or pull the connector from the
"brain", or pull the connector from the
servo pulley cluster. #1 and #3 will set your
ASR OFF light. Haven't tried #2 yet. It's
better to train your finger to turn it off when
you feel like making tracks, since these cars
are even more of a handful when road conditions
are suddenly not so good.
It would be way spiffy if somebody learned how
to reprogram the "brain" to eliminate the spark
retard and throttle slip, and only apply ABS to
one rear tire. Then the TCS would be your buddy
full time. As-is, it is too ambitious and crude.

Where is the "brain" and servo pulley cluster? I want to disable it becouse something screwy is going on with it. It turns it's self on and off sometimes while going down the road. And I'm hoping that disabling it will solve my 1-2 shift problem.

TCS control module is up under the dash, left
of the steering column, according to the
drawings it's a flat little pancake box.
The servo pully cluster (forget its proper name)
is on the passenger's side front fender housing,
3 cables and a 2-wire connector harness, black
plastic pod. Just follow the throttle cable,
the first run ends there.

jimmyblue, thanks for the help. Maybe I can find the one under the dash. I know where the one is under the hood, just didn't know thats what it is.
