Better to use a round speaker but I think 5x7 is about max.

You could... you could also fit an 8-track player in the dash.

Intercooler2 is correct - a round speaker will give better sound than an oval one. 6x9s were popular in the '70s but there's no reason to use them now. Besides, you really only want fill sound coming from behind.

Yeah but the rear is shaped in an oval and I want to fill it. A few of my friends work as audio technicians and install speakers and systems (whatnot) and they recommend me getting ovals for the rear.

What would you recommend?

I personally wouldnt even put speakers back there. If you have speakers in the sails and doors thats enough. I dont even notice not having any back there.

Probably not, especially with Rockford T162c's in them, but I still want to fill em up.

Well then...why not put a set of components back there like in a Firebird? That's the reason the grille is oval - Firebirds have a 4" mid and .75" tweeter mounted side-by-side under it.

I have the Infinity 4" mids with X-over and factory tweets and don't think you can do better back there. It blends extremely well!

5x7 is the biggest that will fit, but honestly I haven't heard a good sounding 5x7. I threw in a pair of 5 1/4" round coaxial's and couldn't be happier.
