Default need some help

took my heads off today and found that the number 3 piston has a couple nicks in the top of it. the cylinder walls are fine. im not sure what my options are. can i try and smooth out the top of the piston? the nicks and gouges are no more than 3 thousandths deep more likely less than that. or should i just replace the piston. and help you guys can give would be great.

you should be fine. I am sure that people fly cut these pistons deeper then that to make room for a big cam so i would not be worried at all. But post a pic and try to get an exact measurement.
