Yes, you will need a 4" crankshaft, new rods, and new pistons for this build. We have rotating assembly kits for sale at very competitive prices. Are you planning on a power-adder combo, or strictly NA?

That's the link to the 383 rotating assembly options.

What heads/cam combo are you running currently? With the added cubes of the stroker motor and valve relief commonly associated with said package, most will run a slightly larger camshaft and more aggressive cylinder heads than they did on their 346 bottom end.

Let us know if we can be of any assistance. Of course we can build the entire short or long-block for you as well if you'd prefer a professional working on your build for you.

your best bet is to buy a kit. It comes with a 4.00" stroke crank, rods, pistons already balanced. Otherwise you'll have to piece the kit together yourself and get it all balanced when you get it. You need to have the block cleaned and rehoned, most kits come with a 3.905" bore piston which is pretty much all you can do with a stock LS1. Then you would definately need bigger heads, porting would work but you'd get more power with aftermarket heads and a bigger cam yes. Search around the forums for what cams and heads other people are using that works well.
