Default question concerning fuel relay power from PCM

I started wiring up my fuel system today. The PCM fuel pump relay feed ( red #9) has power for 3 seconds and then de-energizes. Is this a VAT's issue (PCM has been reprogrammed and VAT's should of been removed) or is it becuase the PCM is sensing that the engine is not running and will not allow the pump to continuoulsy run until the engine is running? Or am I having some other issues?

Duane,

The 3 seconds is the initial prime. Once the computer recieves a "start" indication from the various sensors on the engine, it will turn the fuel pump back on.

Sounds like you are getting close!

I figured it was just a prime. Damn, I'm getting more and more FI savvy everyday.

Fuel fittings, sump and hoses are ordered and should be here sometime next week, Got the fuel pump and filter/reg mounted. But the nice black Russell quick connects are on order till mid July. So figure about then she'll be up and running. Still need to do the radiator fans, get my A/C system, maybe a different steering column and a decent driveshaft in it before it is somewhat functional.

Hopefully I can do all that before I transfer to Italy.

Glad I read this thread. I would have been thinking the VATS also. I will be connecting the FP relay up this weekend. I mostly have it wired now just have to tie up a few loose ends and I should be good to go.

Hope you get yours finished before you have to transfer. Thank you for your service to our country.
