Northwest Members - Interesting Night at the track(PR)

Interesting is the best word I can use. Also the nicest word I can think of ;)

So I get to the track around 5:30. I un-load and tech in then pull up. But no one is running. I ask around and there was an Oil down...from the starting line through the traps! Some say parts on the track.

TWO HOURS of sitting in the sun waiting. The track crew did a great job cleaning it up and re-prepping the track but it set the stage for the rest of the night.

Once we get going we are told a single hit and dail. Kind of what I figured.

I have been having issues and the first pass was a test of the WBC software to see what was up. After the last race we checked the valve springs and changed the opti trying to find the high RPM miss. Turns out the Opti was bad...the NEW opti..

So things are moving along nice. I pull up do my burn out and stage. I launch on the last bulb and go for it. she comes up about a foot and hauls ass. Before the car would start breaking up and I was forced to shift at 6,200 and 6,400. So I am holding first gear waiting for it to start breaking up. Next thing I know it is falling on it's face(7,200 rev limiter) and I pull the shifter and head for the next shift. I am glancing at the tach and the light comes on and I pull the stick at 7,000 CLEAN!! The run was a wash but the car is Reving Clean again!!

She ran a 11.37@118 with a 1.52 60FT(Shift is around 60ft)

We all pull right back to the lanes and dial. I dial a 11.3 and we wait...and wait...and wait for what seems like ever. In the mean time it has cooled down quite a bit. I dail down to a 11.27 and figure I can use the brakes.

we finaly get going and I pull up. I have a 14.20 dial in the other lane. so I will be waiting. No problem I have been working on that. I launch and we are off! The shift light goes off on it's new setting of 6,750 and I pull the stick. Clean shift! I am catching the Corvette fast. The car is pulling hard and moving fast. 6,700 an d then the light I pull the stick again. Now I am going by the Corvette VERY fast! I go by an dlift....then I am still going so I hit the brakes. No win Light? Is it out? Did I have a bad light?

I head down the return with the vette in front of me...she gets the dot...DAMN!

I get the slip and I did not have a bad light. as a matter of fact she only had me by .005 at the light. I broke out and HARD! I ran a 11.141 on the brakes to her 14.19 all out. the car was 2 MPH and 2 1/2 tenths faster in the 1/8th. Would have been a good 10 second pass.

Oh well The car is runnign great I wonder if I can get a Nitrous pass? I head to the pits and park the car. I walk up to the front of the lanes and ask If I can get a test and tune pass? Sure just pull into this lane! SWEEEET! I get back to the car and arm the juice and purge it. climb in and start it...BARELY! DAMN! the other problem is still there. Alt is not charging enough to keep battery up. BUT It started :D

I get in the lane and run it a bit to charge the battery. I shut it off and figure I got enough battery for one more start. In a while we move up but at three cars ahead of me they shut us down. ARG! Well lets hope she starts ONE more time!. They run everyone. It is a bit caotic(sp) but moving. then they start pulling us again. I put my helmet on and say a little prayer to the Chevy gods and twist the key. . . .She slowly twists over and after a slow turn she pops and comes to life! YES! I pull forward and get right up the the staging lanes. Loaded and ready juice on and here we go.

The guy running the lanes comes up and says I can't run? WHAT? Could you check because I can't shut the car off it won't restart. He makes the call. Sure enough no CCCA cars allowed!

As you can guess this is where the interesting begins for sure....

So Damn they tell me I have to go back to the pitts and direct me around to the other side Then go see Tracey in the tower. I smile and thank him and head around....only to find it packed with pro street guys getting ready to run and no way out. I can't go forward and I can't go back. Track rules no running cars with no one inside.. I am stuck I have to get out and get told to turn my car off... It is done no restart...

So I leave my car and head to the tower to find Tracey. Once up there they figure out "I" am not upsey just looking for an answer and Tracey. We chat about what is going on and all the things going wrong. I under stand and next thing I know Tracey is up in the tower and very upset...at me. He goes one and so I finaly put my arms back and listen to his day. It IS a mess and I do under stand that also. So then He calms down and I tell him what happened and how i would have loved to put my car ANYWHERE but where it was at(evidently blocking Pro street from getting in and out in a timley manor) but this is where I was directed and this is what I was told to do.

So we head back down to move my car. We get almost down there and some big guy is going through my car and sreaming and yelling. He is mouthing off and I AM getting upset about it and the people ON my $7,000 paint!

Tracys backs him down and we get my car moved. He is still being a dick but not to me.

I go get Don Berrys jump box and go back up and jump start the car. JR's are blocking so i let it run while I am standing next to it waiting for them to run. While I am there Tracey makes sure to come back and shake my hand and appoligize again for his men. He was very nice and did job to get it straightened out.

I get my car back to the trailer and head back up to CCCA. When I get up there tracey is having a talk to his men and trying to get things rolling and smooth again.

They run the next round of CCCA and things are going well. The guys no more then get back and they are wanting to run them again. We are still trying to figure things out as we need three buys for a good race. We are in formed NO buys and we are NOT going to finish the race after this round, so we deside to run the two car that had to run each other. to make the final four. All hell is breaking loose in the lanes ahead of us and the hired help can not make the same choise twice. We DO get the two cars ran but there is greef at the tree. we deside to deal with it later as the race is over any ways.

We have no hard rules for this situation so we gather the final four racers and ask them if they want to flip for the win or use "rain out rules" and end the race just like a "rain out" and alot points. All four racers deside on the "rain out rules"

The night got even MORE interesting after this but no need to cover that...besides I am to tired.

Good night all!

Jesus.....the first NICE day for CCC races & that $hit happens. Glad I had to work again, I think I'd have gotten 86'd.

I'll be out to borrow some tools later Ellis. Let me know when you're up & moving around.

Yea that definately sounds like it could have been better. I know I have had the issue with being told I could run and then being told I couldnt by both tracks numerous times. Ive stayed for hours on the word that I can make a TNT pass just to be told I couldnt. Then Ive been told there will be no TNT passes and left just to hear later it a was a free for all and everybody got multiple passes.
Oh well wadda ya gonna do?

PR usually allows CCC losers to TnT, but due to the oil downs and the high turnout (200 cars), they chose not to allow it last night. The oil down was actually a TnT car that was using the wrong oil filter. As he drove down the length of the track, he spewed oil across an entire lane. I don't think anyone could have devised a more damaging apparatus for track disabling.

Yeah it was a wild night that was for sure. I just want to make a note again that I was not upset with the track and under stood many of there problems. I had no problems with not running Test and tune save for the way it got handled. There were other CCCA cars running Test and tune and I am glad they got a few hits in ;) I would have liked to get a nine second run but not upset it did not happen.

Over all the Test and tune part was a very smal part of the night over all. There was SO much more and some of the people there need better people skills and training. This seems to be a long standing problem at PR for some reason. People/Racers do not like paying just to be abused by the some of the people working at the track. Tracey was on it trying to get it taken care of but by the end of the night I think all was lost.

How did every one else do? Ford guys were running strong again :D

Jesus Christ Ellis, Why didn't you just put a beatdown of the guy and be done with it!!!:engarde:LOL :jest:Sounds like one of those nights that it was good to have stayed home. I find it truly amazing that you can go and pay your hard earned money to have some fun and all you get is a bunch of shit,:turd: Not only from other racers but from the TRACK EMPLOYEES.:sack: I guess they can treat you any way they want when you have so few options as to where you can race.:judge:

I was on swings last week (and will be this week) Sounds Crazy!
Not sorry I missed that! Just seems like it is not as fun as it used to be.
I just don't make it out much with work and the little guy either. I would like to get out to B-town on the 5th, but won't be spraying as I really need some dyno time and want to change out my N20 noid because it like 3 years old.

Thanks EJ, Just tryin to get Ellis riled up a little bit!!! He's been a bit too mellow these days. Seriously, it was good to hear that he was very diplomatic about everything. Makes a much better case when we complain about the treatment we get.Very judicious use of the smileys there Doug.

Wow, Pacific Raceways creating a bunch of unnecessary drama because one hand doesn't know what the other is doing? No way. I can't believe that. That's never happened before.
