or know if a universal one will even fit? i have been chasing a nasty vibration in the car and we are leaning towards the mcleod bellhousing causing it. if i swap the stocker back in and it fixes my problem im going to leave it in there but i dont want to loose my foot or destroy my car if the clutch lets go.

Taner had one the day of his T-56 destruction!
debris was still all over the track(typical)...a few peices came through the floor/firewall and busted his right foot...
he said it best:
tranny blanket is like a condom, good for one use!

Have you pulled the trans and checked the face and bore of the Mcleod hsg?

You use a mag base dial indicator. It's set up on the crank/flywheel, and dialed onto the bore in the hsg. The engine is slowly rotated, and the run out in the bore is written on the hsg. Total indicator run should be .010, or less.
The gauge is then moved to the trans mtng face of the hsg, and the same thing is done.
Hydroformed hsgs are distorted when made.[Nature of the beast.] The machine work can be ??. The back of the block can be off w/ the crank C/L. The blast plate can be out of parallel.
If the hsg is fubar, the input of the trans is being side loaded, resulting in possible brg failure, short trans life, uneven wear on the clutch, etc.

Here's a Lakewood install link. Same principle. Has pics that show what I'm trying to explain.

Here's a place for trik dowel pins, should you need them.

You can always weld a piece of steel to the tunnel, should help keep metal from coming through.

its a good idea to use a kevlar Trans blanket because if some thing breaks and your fly wheel comes loose even if its at 1500 RPM that thing has like 180 sharp teeth on it so it will cut through alot of stuff and can even cut your feet right off... and i mean its more likely you break something at higher RPM's so you'll probably be doing about 5500-6000 RPM's when you shift and thats when you're most likely to break something.... a piece of steal will not contain it till it stops, it will only make it bounce off and go in a different direction which might still hurt you or some one else that why i think the kevlar blanket is the best because it contains it untill it stops...

just my 2 cents on this discussion...

but to find one just get on google i think "Jegs" or "Summit" should sell one if not i belive "JCWhitney" will.
