Default Stock to Ram Air Hood swap?

Besides the hood of course, what all would need to be changed to switch to the ram air setup?

You will need the ram air (airbox /filter) Your maf will have to be relocated up closer to the tb. You can get all the parts directly from a gm dealer. Make sure the hood u get is a functional ram air and comes with the required parts in the hood. Good luck.

Get a 3" pipe extender from home depot for the throttle body to maf connection.

pardon my ignorance, but what does a "functional ram air hood" mean? As far a hood parts, can i not just reuse the ones that are on my current hood?

im working on doing the same thing. functional ram air hood means it actually has scoops that go to the filter. some hoods have fake scoops. other than that your going to need a tube going from your tb to the maf, then from the maf to the box. the wire to your maf will be stretched but if you open up the open up the harnes going to it you can get some slack. if you check out suncoast creations they sell hoods with the intake redy to go with it

I'd be shocked if he could get a ram air box from the dealer for a 97'. Might try the suncoast route or ebay.

Will changing to the ram air be about equivalent to a cai? Will it give me the same hp/gas mileage as the cai?
