Default gears?

how many have done their own gears?
just installed 410s in my brother's vette along with lingenfelter driver side shaft and c6z clutches.
didn't seem to bad of a job. time consuming yes but overall not too bad.

just wondering how many have done their own before?

How much did you have into doing it yourself? I put gears in my jeep and wouldn't be afraid to put gears into something else, but I have a feeling the corvette would be a bit more tricky!

(bgblockelcamino's brother here)

Kent-moore corvette axle tool kit from eBay ($150 delivered)
like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kent-...spagenameZWDVW
Kent-moore shim selector kit from eBay ($100 delivered) used marking compound instead

Motive 4.10 gears ($333 delivered, normally they are about $400)
Lingenfelter driver's output shaft ($300-ish delivered)
Bearing kit ($175)
C6Z clutch packs ($250)
for the price I would probably try the DTE clutch packs next time.
I bought 1 clutch pack from the dealership, only to figure out we need 2 afterward.

Gear oil and posi additive. (??? my bro picked that up for me)

So about $1400 in parts and tools. A hydraulic press is essential.

I also bought the DTE brace and Vararam while the credit card was out.

Been driving the Vette one of the single best mods was 410 gears. it matches well with heads and cam in the car.

this thing is a totally different animal with these new gears.

I know my limits of mechanical ability Plus I do not have all the needed tools. That is why I had a professional do my gears. My hat is off to you if you can go the gear change.
