Default timing

i just bought a 98 camaro ls1 11.4 comp,598 lift cam ls 6 intake with tea 5.3 stage 2 heads.they have the timing locked at 28 deg so the can spray a 150 shot,i have a timing tuner i was wanting to set the timing for the motor then have the box retard it,my ? is what should i set the timing at total for just motor then how much should i retard it,im a old skool guy,new at this new stuff any help would be appreciated thanks,Dave car has a 350 turbo with a yank 4200 convertor

Rule of thumb is 2 degrees retard per 50 shot....to be on the safe side.

This would park you timing around 22-23 degrees.
