Default Belts Loose/Slipping?

So today I pull my car out and I hear an annoying loud squeal. I look under the hood and I notice that the serpentine belt is like half off the pulleys! I have to take it to the dealer now cause i dont know any good mechanics! Is this normal? Is it safe to drive to the dealer or do I have to tow it? I tugged on the belt a bit and its tight, but I can tell its half on half off. Anyone experince this? car is a 00 WS6.

thanks!

Or why don't you just put it back yourself? Not that hard to do. But I would find out why it got like that.

You will be very surprised how easy it is to replace a belt if you take the time to do this yourself.

I really can't see how the belt can be 1/2 way off all the pulleys. Most of the pulleys are grooved and have a lip to retain the belt in place except for the water pump, and the 2 idler pulleys.

I can try to snap a pic tomorrow, im not driving the car until next week when I take it in. Im not sure if its on all the pulleys or just the top one, its past the lip, isnt it possible for the belt to slip off? I mean I know im looking at the right thing because I can tell when the belt looks normal or not!

half on? that i have never seen happen and ive been working on a multitude of cars. you sure you know what you're looking at? i dont mean to offend im just saying that because you stated you are "no mechanic". snap some pics im curious to see what this looks like. if it were to snap you would see a bunch of lights light up on your dashboard and you would lose power steering, water pump, alternator and w/e else that thing wraps around under there lol. its fun trust me...

ended up needing a new tensioner and all new belts since it was pretty chewed up, didnt have a chance to snap a pic but im positive that the belt was off a few grooves on the pulley

Next time you go to a "stealership" and or mechanic, make sure to ask for some new muffler bearings. They will usually give you a pretty good deal on some.
