I would get a stock ACDelco unit before I would buy that. I've never had issues with the ACDelco. If you go on ebay you can get them for a good price but make sure its legit not the elcheapo shit ones they sell on there.

theyre made different. atleast the 93-94 opti's are. on a factory 93-94 the drive pin is seperate. the summit opti has the drive made onto the center of the opti. the problem i've seen is, the cap doesnt seem to have as much clearance and the opti rubs up against it. anyone else had this problem???

the year is 94

It might be ok but to be safe I'd get an AC Delco or a Delphi. A lot of the AC Delco ones were made by Delphi and the Delphis are often a lot cheaper so I'd probably go that route.

Yeah... You could say I've had this problem...

Granted, this was a reman opti with an MSD Cap/Rotor on it. Same issue though, the drive pin was a little long, pushed the rotor into the cap, and BOOM!!!

the summit one is a reman one no matter what they say. we put a summit opti in a buddys and we just pulled it off 1k later bc it failed. we took it apart and it had finger prints all over it. summit is giving us a new one of course since there customer service is tip top

+1!!!!!!!!!!
I got an AC Delco opti from "thepartsladi" on ebay for $280 shipped
I bought a Delphi opti from the same place for a buddy for $230 shipped.
Both are OEM and came in the OEM packaging.
Just so you know, I bought a JEG's brand opti before I got the AC Delco, "looked" like OEM, but it failed after two weeks, rotor detached!!!
My buddy got an AllIgnition opti before he got the Delphi, rotor screws backed out on him as well.
OEM is the only way to go, go with 'thepartsladi".

i went with the delphi and from the sounds of it should be happy. I can't believe the Delco I had after 2yrs is failing, but from what I've finally found, its the source of my problem.
I remember buying Vented Delcos from Dal for $219 (they were $199 or less at one time). Now they're at least $313 + Core (except thepartsladi)

I would do a compression and leak down test. If all checks out, then go ahead.

compression was around 120,119 first crank all around

I have done two installs (one being my car) without a seal and both have had no problems. I have seen opti's shipped both with a seal and without.

ok good so mine didn't come with one so i wont try and find one.
Personally, I would only use original GM optispark. For a model year 1994 like mine, you would need the spline drive non-vented one. Hope this help some.

AC Delco or Delphi is the way to go.

Compression numbers are usually the highest each cylinder will stop climbing too. Not the first number.

i actually put the jegs brand opti in my car because i was hard up for money at the time... and i also had an msd cap and rotor and put it in... and so far (about 5k miles) all is well... hasnt missed a beat yet... so its probably a hit or miss deal, and i hope i got a hit (knock on wood!)

Hopefully your rotor screws won't back out on you like mine did in my Jeg's brand opti after two weeks.

one thing i learned always take the screws off the rotor and use thread lock on them, even when opti is brand new.

I didn't on an opti I had on my car. 2 years and the screws were tight. needless to say on the new opti I loctited them :)

I put the MSD distributor in my 97 about 12k miles ago but the car runs like shit anyway. My headers leak, blow gaskets and manage to loosen loctited bolts and just recently cooked my MSD wires. I gotta say though it certainly looked like it was built tough. Honestly the summit opti looks kinda like the accel opti.
