once my transmission is fixed, i want to go ahead and get either the hotchkis or bmr 1'' lowering springs, and was just wanting some input on the two

obviously if funds allowed, i'd be completely upgrading everything with a koni/strano combination, but that's out of the picture.

i've rode in a lt1 lowered on hotchkis, and thought the ride was very reasonable, and it looked awesome.

All I know is the hotchkis is 285-525 lbs.in front, 100-140 lbs.in rear.
I believe that the BMR is a little stiffer like 550 front and 170 rear, But I'm not 100% sure.

i used to have hotchkis on stock decarbons and the ride wasn't bad at all. i cant comment on bmr springs though as i dont have any expereince with them...

i currently am debating about another set of hotchkis or dms. i would prefer a little more drop than the hotchkis 1"...

You can still run my springs.... The fact I prefer Koni's is the case with any of those springs. My springs are 550 front, 150 rear always have been and never have we changed our published rates to suit public opinion.

A few here have run them on stock shocks and reported the ride to be about the same. I can't really tell you, because I think the stock ride sucks so I change shocks before I usually worry about springs (or at the same time). In fact I had a man change from Hotchkis to my springs and told me he felt the car rode better (and he had Koni's on with both springs) because the car didn't get on the front bumpstops as hard/quickly.

And that is a big reason why we run the rates and heights we do.... I don't think the Hotchkis are quite firm enough in front overall. The BMR springs aren't terrible as I do think there are worse springs. But the rear rate IMHO doens't need to be 170. Stock is 115, and the max on a 1LE spring which I felt was a bit too stiff was 180. And FWIW, the more rate you have the more shock you need to control it. Overall you are talking about 3 similar springs, but not the same. In the end, mine are the lightest, the most proven to handle, and I feel the best rates. Strano Springs are the newest set, I got to try a zillion other rates, heights, and off the shelf spring sets. I wanted my car to work the best it could and settled on rates and heights that make the car the easiest to drive. Then I incorporated that info into my spring sets.

FWIW, I sell Hotchkis too. I don't sell BMR, and readily admit that.

I should add on stock OD tires: Measuring ground to fender results in numbers of about 26" front, 26.75" rear on LS1 cars. About .25" lower on LT1's. More often than not we drop the nose about 1", the rear 1.25".

That is correct. The front spring rate for the BMR spring is 550 pounds per inch. The rear spring rate is 170 pounds per inch. The BMR springs are slightly stiffer than the Hotchkis springs and very similar to the Strano springs.

Buy the Konis if you can afford them. If not, the Tokico shocks are a very good bang for the buck. Either shock works well with the BMR springs.

The BMR springs are made from high tensile chrome silicon steel. This is the same spring material used by many NASCAR teams. This material "springs" back to its original shape quicker than most other types of steel.

The BMR springs cost $229.95. Strano Parts sell the Hotchkis springs for $249.99. They sell the Strano springs for $275.

I would go with the BMR springs. One of my good friends is running the BMR springs, and I love the stance and ride characteristics of her car (for a non-coilover setup).
I am running Strange D/A coilovers, 300# front and prokit rears (too low, **** quality) so I'm going to give Lee a call today about ordering a rear set of their springs. Lee has helped me extensively with upgrading all of my suspension, and answers any questions thoroughly.

The Stranos are $275 shipped. The price quote I got from Dennis, shipped, was only $2.34 less.

I think the price difference you listed is quite misleading, although it was a while ago you posted this.
