single plane intake worth it on my setup?
i know the stock lt4 intake only flows so much but after reading for about 2hrs on this single plane vic e deal i dont know if it will cure my issue or not. Right now the car make 1050rwhp through my th-400. The power curve never flatens out makes power till i shift. I want my power curve to flaten out at about 5500-6k and pull that to 7000 where i shift.
before i spend the 2k i want some opinions on this. A little info on my combo:
383 afr 220, lt4 intake. solid roller cam, twin gt 72mm turbos. From what i read the intake helps with power above 6000ish and helps with plugs. I run e98 so plugs ant really an issue for me and i shift the car at 7000

Dauumm...you make that kind of power through an LT4 intake?? Thats impressive...didnt think it would carry enough air to get close to that.
Single plane does help with even distribution, primary benefit I think is with power adders. There are a couple of trials where it showed very little pickup on motor. Be willing to bet with your setup and power range as stated it would make a diff for you.
Would be interested to see some pics of how you have it setup currently.

Since you are larger cubes and solid roller you will pick up some power and raise the entire power and torque curves with a single plane. More plenum volume, longer runners....etc will really give that engine a chance to be more efficient. Kinda depends on what your goals are. You are already hitting over 1000rwhp....what are you shooting for?

I think you will pickup huge above 6k with your setup
The thing I like the most with my single plane setup is all 8 plugs read the exact same every time as opposed to the crappy LT1 intake

Im trying to get the car to go low 8's but it seems i might have to rev the motor higher to acheve that since my current curve doesnt start making mid-low 8second power till about 6500rpm. My current cam setup was initailly designed for lower rpms but now provides a 45 degree straight line power curve. I dont know how much power the LT1 can take before the block starts to fail but i dont really want to pull the motor higher then 7k. I tried to get ahold of big rick because hes the only one that i have heard that has gone as fast as im looking to. Maybe he will chime in. I think in order to go low low 8's i will need about 1300rwhp. My car went 8.80's with 950rwhp. the more it turn the boost up the car doesnt pick up power unless i continue to rev the motor. So what im looking to do is advance my power curve so i can have 1300rwhp by the time i hit 5500-6000rpm and be able to carry that to 7k. However i dont know if thats possible. Thoughts?
By the sound of it your intake is what is holding you back. I really think a single plane will help you reach that goal. What did your heads flow?

I know this is a bit against the gran, but maybe you need to look at a SMALLER intake than what most use for the single plane conversions. I don't know much about forced induction but I do know a lot of what I see being done with single planes is HUGE intakes that should really be left to stuff getting reved higher than what guys are doing.

The guy is turbo, his cam will determine his power curve more than anything. He is making more power than most anyone on this board.
Got to a ORSCA race and see all the guys with turbos and F3's with single plane intakes. Tell THEM the need a smaller intake and watch them fall on the ground laughing at you.
To answer your question, yes you will make more power with a single plane. Your distribution will improve GREATLY, resulting in more power.
A cam change MAY be necessary to get the FULL benefit, but I doubt it.
If you want to LOWER the power curve, advance the camshaft.

Yeah im thinking of doing the single plane with another cam possibly. The heads flow 305 range on the intake. They are afr 220's. Does anyone know if the wilsons elbow will clear the stock hood? From the sounds of it victory e intake, wilsons elbow, with a Nick williams T body
