Forged 347+275 Shot off the line?
Im running a forged 347, diamond pistons, scat rods, stock block and crank. I have the NOSzle direct port kit and dedicated fuel system on my car as well. How many of you are hitting your cars with 250+ off the line? I'm currently jetted for 175 which is doing fine off the line (1.5x 60's). I was wondering if I could safely run the 275 all at once? I also have a TH400 and Chance converter.
I know the 1.5 60' is a little slow but I'm at 8000+ DA!!
Thanks!!
-Sean

Sean, In my book I would do a 2 stage setup but that is my opinion. I would do a 100 shot off the line then by the 60' put the extra 200 on there. I am sure you can pull it off but it's going to be real tricky dialling it in at the track on a single stage.
I wonder about how the converter is going to like the big shot off the line. how is your suspension looking?

The converter is setup for a 250 hit. Suspension is fine so far, only brings the left front wheel up a few inches. Im still on the stock shocks and springs though.
I don't think traction will be a big issue, I'll be on et drags if I do the big single stage.
A second stage would be a good idea too...

Sounds like a nice setup. If your motor can take it id say why not as long and with a decent stall you should hit high rpm fast enough so it wont backfire. Maybe try a 200 or 225 and see how it goes.

We have very similar setups, I didn't have any problem hooking a 200 shot off the line but when I tried a 300 shot it just blew the tires off. I have since went to 2 stages but I haven't got to try it yet. I am planning on trying 200 off the line and then bringing in another 150-200 about 100 feet out.
I'll let you know how it works.

I think I've made my mind up. Prolly gonna go with a Nitro Daves progressive controller, Innovate Wideband and dyno tune lean shut-off switch. Then run at least the 275 shot, if not bigger....

i would also do a 2 stage deal, or the progressive like you have posted. I personally dont run n2o, YET, but i think it would be alot easier to hook if you didnt bring it all in at once.

If you are considering the progressive controller, that new Nos one is by far the best one out there. If I were gonna buy one, I wouldn't mess around and I'd get one of those and call it a day.
You get your tuneup right and there's no need for that lean shutdown thing. That I might put on a street car with a maxed otu fuel system, but with a DP and it's own fuel pump/system there's no need for that thing it will be more trouble then it's worth.
The wideband isn't a bad idea as long as you can log it, but the only real way to check the tuneup is to pull the pulgs at the end of the track (go thru the lights @ WOT, then shut the car off as you let off the gas) and coast to the end of the track (just click the key, don't pull it or you'll lock the wheel) and pull all the plugs right there. That's the only way to really get a good read as to what's going on. Cut the threads off the plugs when you get home to see where the fuel really is too.
Don't just belive the wideband leaded race fuel and the wideband aren't always a totally accurate reading. Make sure the a/f is in the 11's DO NOT listen to the clowns on this board that tell you rich is safe, you can hurt pistons as easily with too fat a tuneup as you can with too lean a tuneup.
Put a #9 plug in the car, and don't use any type of plug with an extended tip. Autolite 3933 is a good plug to use, no extended ground strap.
I'd highly reccommend going over on yellowbullet.com if you want to read about some good nitrous info from guys that are spraying alot, the guys on there know what they are doing and how to get stuff to stay togeher. On this website, not so much.

Hitting 200-250 out of the hole is not so bad as long as the car is working. Hitting 300 pluss it starts to get alittle more technical and breaking it into stages may be a good choice.
I like running two stages with a progressive on the first on the larger HP applications. If the car does not need the progressive don t use it but if the track goes to crap its there.
