Default cam dowel pin

i was told i needed to file down the dowel pin on the cam to work with a spline drive opti. i also noticed my stock cam had a shorter dowel pin on it than the one i put in it. all this slipped my mind when i installed my new cam. it doesnt seem to be hurting anything right now but it hasnt ran for very long either. has anyone ever done this?

the 93 and 94s have a shorter pin. a dremel tool will fix it. i would have thought it would be rubbing the timing cover.

if the dowel pin is too long it bottoms out on the opti , it will work but will cause problems down the road. Most aftermarket cams come with the dowel pin too long.
