cold air vs air lid?

cold air vs air lid?
i dnt have ram air so should i get a cold air kit with a new lid or just get a lid? whats the difference power wise...also i dnt really hear a lot of people doing cold air intake why is that?

I'd just get a lid to start with. A lot of guys swear by them, but I don't care for the cold air kits that place the ducting in front of the radiator.
If you have a Firebird, you can cut openings in the hood brace behind the dual inlets in the bumper, and that will feed cold air directly to the air filter.

It didn't make the car run any hotter or anything like that, and it seems to work, according to IAT datalogs. FWIW, I also have a lid.

it's been a beaten subject... once picking up speed a ram air kit SHOULD help although on the low end of the curve you not gonna see much difference... just depends on how much $$$ you care to spend at the time

The FTRA is dependent on having a free flowing lid so if you only have money for that, buy a lid first. You can check out the 85mm lid we sell on our web site.
After you have the lid, the FTRA (Fast Toys Ram Air Kit) is a very worthwhile mod and will also help improve your fuel economy which means the kit will eventually pay for itself.
