Do Carbon Fiber Synrchos have a "break in period" ???? Please help!
I bought my car a couple months ago so I don't know all its back ground but know the guy that did most of the work on it. Anyway...
It has an all new drivetrain in it when i bought it. The T56 was freshly rebuilt with carbon synrchos, steel forks, billet rings etc. etc. Also had a LS7 clutch put in with the trans. After driving the car a week or so fifth gear start grinding some when I'd put it in gear just driving along, not banging on it. No problems when sitting still.
I asked the guy at the shop that did the work and he said dont worry about it, its normal and its just the carbon synchros breaking in. Well after about a week it stopped so I figured it must of just been break in like he said. Well another week after that fourth gear started grinding the exact same way. About another week later I started having issues with being locked out of gears. I then flushed the fluid out and heavily bled the clutch and I havnt had the "locked out" issues since but I still had the fourth gear grinding problem. Now after another week of driving fourth doesn't seem quite as bad and occasionally doesn't grind but third gear started doing it and is def the worse than fourth is now and about how fourth was and fifth was originally.
Whats the deal? Is this some sort of break in and its just gonna work its way down the gears and eventually stop? Is it a failing clutch master cylinder? I'm not sure how old it is or if it was replaced with everything else. The fluid is all new and i flushed and bled the fluid for a solid hour so I'm confident its not air in the lines and the fluid is coming out looking new. Am I gonna hurt anything driving it like this. I have only put about a total of under 2000 miles on the car since I got it a little over 3 months ago so when I say a weeks worth of driving its not a ton of miles.
Thanks for the help!
