Default Since its hot and my car dont run that well..

Figured I'd just get out and do some local heads up 'street car' racing at a few local tracks since its too hot to try for any internet times. Two weeks ago I won one at 411 dragway here, no video, but I didnt have the fastest care by a longshot. A very nice el-camino with a big block and an F2 procharger would have been easily the fastest car there but in my favor track prep was pretty bad since it was a 92* sunny day so I was able to pull off a win mostly because I could get down the track. Shame there was no video, the final I was against a lightweight N/A fox body and it was a very close (5.92/5.99) final.

Saturday I though I'd throw the old Hoosier QTP DOT tires on the car and try a local 'outlaw DOT' race and see what would happen. Once again I wasnt the fastest but was able to pull out another win mostly because I could make it down the track. Even though it spun the tires pretty bad off the line and my 60's were horrible (1.5 or so) I still managed to run 5.99, 5.96, 5.95 (bye run not on the video) and a 5.96 in the final and win it. So much for FI cars not being consistent, even with a good amount of tirespin.

Here is most of rounds, something to watch at work anyhow

Yea there is a lot of mustangs around here, I'm pretty tempted to find a light fox body and stick my engine and trans in it. But then again its kinda cool that its the only really fast LS car around so its kinda unique and stands out.

I just cant wait for the cooler weather to come back, car is running pretty well in the summer so it should do a little better this fall than last year - if I dont wear it out first

Yea, on a so-so track or so-so tires sometimes not having the most power is a good thing. I'd lighten it up a little or do a couple other things to step it up a little but I like the car the way it is and I dont have to do anything to it between rounds except check the tire pressure here and there..

With the F1A when is 85* out it usually starts at 100 and is 150* or so in the 1/8, about 170* in the 1/4.

In good 50* degree weather it will be ~80* when I let go of the brake off the 2 step, 125* in the 1/8 and 145* in the 1/4.

Thats why mine picks up so much in cool weather, especially after the 330 since the IAT climbs so quick. Car makes a lot of power in the first 100 feet though, thats why I can cut 1.25 or so 60 foots but its downhill from there with an air to air

I dont know really, they say 10hp for every 10 degrees of IAT, so I guess if I could keep it under 100 degrees on a hot day it would pick up 50-60hp. I have plenty of power off the line, but it goes away the longer it runs at WOT so I'm not sure how much ET it would pick up since most of that is made by the 330, but I bet the mph would jump up quite a bit. It only picks up about 10* from start to 330, I just assume everything is a little heat soaked on the line, but after about 400' the IAT really starts shooting up. I'd like to try it but with all the work just to get the car loaded and out to the track fooling with ice is just something I dont want to mess with.

Thing is even with high ambient temps and high DA the blower wont make the boost it will on a cooler day with a high barometer, so even with an A2W I'm going to be down on power unless I put a bigger blower on the car in the summer.

Believe it or not they run 1/4 mile on that track, 11.00 or slower though, for 1/8 mile its super long. They run 3.90 door slammers and top dragsters there all the time, it just looks short from the camera angles I guess plus its very wide, lot of 1/8 tracks around here way shorter then that one

Going A2W picked us up a ton of extra hp, not sure how much yet since we have been battling converters, but the car made +100 rwhp on the dyno during tuning.

We are looking to run it this week sometime.

Our IAT's were in the 130/140 range at end of 1/4 with the old A2A, now there ice cold 65-70. And that was with not much ice each pass. Definatly power gains for sure, higher matience, yes.

I'm sure it makes more power, but how much of that will translate into actual ET I dont know since, like I mentoned, the IATs arent really that bad for the first 400' or so and thats where most of your ET is. If it runs 8.92 @ 152 with the A2A and 8.89 @ 160 with an A2W I'll leave the A2A on it. Thats why I wish you guys would make some passes and see

A little 50hp dry shot would cool her right off.

Congrads on the wins KP.

It runs mid 5.60s-low 5.70s in cooler weather with the F1A. 5.64 @ 122 is the best its run in the 1/8 with the 346, havent had the new 365 in any good weather yet.

A 50 shot would do great, I did that with my old P1SC car and it really woke it up in the summer, but most local stuff is single power adder only. I'm not complaining about it really, I enjoy racing in the heat about as much as the car likes it, but the car is sitting here so I may as well do something with it
