Default TKO 5-speed vs. Richmond six speed

if the number of gears mattered little what would be the advantage of the richmond. I prefer a 5-speed and the tko has close to the same final gear ratio as the richmond but is a grand cheaper. anyone have any dealings good or bad from the TKO 5-speed???

just for reference, TKO 5-speed: 0.64 fifth gear $1975.00

Richmond 6-speed: 0.62 sixth gear $3159.00

which would you prefer??

If you prefer 5 gears instead of 6, then run the 5 speed. Also look at your power goals, and pick a trans that will fit your needs. I know they are making a 5 speed now with the t56 casing, using stronger parts than in their normal 5 speed housing.

My buddy has got the TKO 600 5-Speed in his car and loves it but its an '01 Mustang GT not an F-Body. Never heard of someone running one of those in an F-Body before, I would stick to a 6-Speed but thats just me, sucks it costs so much more tho.

Yes, but you could shop around to find a T56, and get it rebuilt for less than what they want for a new one. I suppose its all in preference though, 5 or 6 speed, rebuilt or new.
As for my preference, I would want the 6 speed, that's another gear I get to shift.

I believe the tko has a higher imput power rating though...
