Fuel milage with carb
Ok guy's i need some honest answers as to what fuel milage you are getting from your carbed setup. We have been on the Power Tour three times and I was thinking about doing a Ls1 carb swap into my 68 Camaro. A friend of ours has a 68 ls1 tremec 6 sp with factory fuel injection and was getting about 26 mpg on the last tour. The only milage I care about would be mild driving at freeway speeds 65-75. If you could post your setup and gear ratio it would help.
Thank's
Alan

I don't think you will lose a lot of freeway mileage at all provided the carb is set up correctly. Wont be quite as good as fuel injection though, and the city mileage will suffer. Small primaries would be your friend. A very well tuned Thermoquad or Q-Jet would be ideal and both will make a lot of power when properly set up.

i havent checked my milage since going to the bigger converter, and 4.33 gear.
750 quick fuel
6.0
235/237 599/602 cam
28" tire
3.70 gear
th350 1:1
cruising 70
18mpg......
it wasnt much worse in town if you kept your foot out of it.
very shocking to me.
my old small block got 10, when i dropped in the 6.0, i noticed the fuel needle didnt move like the tach anymore.
haha.
this is with 15.1-15.5 a/f ratio cruise on a plx wideband.
if you had overdrive, or a 5/6 spd, cruise milage with a carb shouldnt suffer to much at cruising speed.
