Wassup guys last saturday nite there was a subaru sti wit paper plates running 13.1 et's on street tires, the nite b4 that he had open manifolds and only hittin 13.3's to 13.6's. I was kindah trippin, the guy said its bone stock and he just picked it up a couple of days ago. My fren wit an 02 z a4 street raced an sti and ate the guy alive 3 times, and the sti dude was in denial kept on making excuses-miss shifted, u jumped first, my tire spun, blah blah blah, etc. So is this 13.1 ricer really bone stock or does he have something under his sleeve???

Definitely stock. They're running 14 psi of boost on 2.5 liters, making them slightly more powerful than a 19 lb boosted 2.0 liter Evo. But the Evo has a slightly better suspension. They're pretty nice cars, do a wing deletion and they're not too ricey at all (not like the super rice Evo) but MOST LS1s shouldn't have too much of a problem with them. Stock for stock they should hang pretty evenly. From a roll, an M6 will beat it every time. Gotta love that LS1 topend... wish I could experience it daily like you guys do :o)

But that's ok. I got a little bit of extra air helpin out on my top end :burn: ;)

I dont understand? an LS1 shouldnt have trouble with them? I'm sure LS1's would own them from a roll, but isn't 13.1 faster than a stock LS1? just asking.

Sure, but whose got a stock LS1 now adays? Most of the time, just a simple lid and catback system will put an otherwise stock LS1 into the high 12's.

He's right. That's not what I meant, though. You've got it, Phantom. I'll edit it and change it from "an LS1 should have no problem" to "most LS1s should have no problem".

I think you're giving the LS1 alot of credit. Not alot of people can shift their way into the high 12's. But they do have potential.

True, but not every STi driver runs 13.1 either. Most STis run mid 13s, as do LS1s. Like I said, they're pretty even.

I dont think its bone stock, I've been hearing about easy turbo upgrades and overboosting them from stock to squeeze alot more out of it, dont know if he did that though
btw: whats your car runnin now with the new cam and upgrades?

Maybe, but as you said thats not the CAR's problem, its the DRIVER's problem that he can't shift/drive. I am fully confident most lightly modded LS1's can hit high high 12's with a good driver.
Back in HS I knew some idiot kid that drove his 98 Z with only a catback and lid to a 12.92 ... and he couldn't drive for shit.

2 weeks after I got mine new back in 01, with an RK lid and a Hooker catback, I ran 13.01\103.5 on the second run. Just couldn't get those GSC's to hook for shit.

4thgen- What was your 60'? I ran slower than you, to much to post, but my trap speed was 104.3mph....

60ft back then 2.0 something.
And it was a nice mid 50's Autumn afternoon.

1st week on Dyno I had 299rwhp stock just with K&N.

I doubt if it was bone stock. They are only 270 HP cars that weigh 3300 lbs. Unless the track runs downhill, he dialed up the boost.

The STi is 300fwhp. Evo is 270. The low 13s. ET is in line with what the rags are getting.

Fulton is right. The STi is 300 hrose, thanks to half a liter more displacement. Do your homework next time! ;) :usa:

DOH!!!! I got it mixed up with the Evo. All rice looks alike to me.

2000WS6Vert

The STi and EVO are all about the launch. If it's a good driver, they can drop 1.7X-1.8X at the track. What you'll see though is a low ET with a low trap speed. They'll run a 13.1 with 105 mph where an LS1 M6 would trap 3-4 mph faster stock.

From a roll...a stock LS1 should take a stock STi or EVO as the EVO/STi don't have the benefit of an AWD launch.

But just like the LS1....there aren't many stock EVO/STi's out there either. A girl a few buildings down has an EVO...she already had the airbox hacked open...and she had it for 3 days...LOL

My friend went to the track with his Turboed Contour SVT, he ran 13.8 @103 and he beat or was just about dead even with two EVO's and an STi. So most of the EVO/STi drivers don't know how to harness the potential from their cars yet.....you have to launch them at 5500 rpms to get those times.....most are afraid to do that to their rides.

Only 24 more days til I get my 2000 WS6 vert......... :drive:
