4" Mufflex vs 2OTL
Two unique exhaust systems that I have narrowed my field of vision down to.
The plan as of now is to go FI, probably a D1 with dished pistons. Currently I have LT's, a moddified pacesetter Y pipe with a 4" flowmaster merge (which fixed the root of all that is raspy), a 3" reducer, and then a tailpipeless hooker cb. I am digging both the 2OTL and the Mufflex, and its come down to either one.
I am already plummed for the 4" mufflex so that's not an issue. But price kinda is, flow is a big consideration, but mainly sound. Both provide a unique sound... or so I've heard (no pun intended). Both have been used on extremely high HP cars with success (700rwhp without cutouts), and honestly the FI part of the setup will take care of most of the work... 20 hp isnt going to be a big deal if its making almost 600. I am also not really wanting it to be screaming loud either. Obviously, I will be shopping for used systems.
If you're partial to either one then please post up why. Oh and as far as I have searched, these havent ever been compared on here

I've had both and you're really looking at 2 different animals. The Mufflex is LOUD. Someone will here you all the way across town when you get on it. It's also heavy and harder to fit right. I had the flowmaster on it, maybe if it had a magnaflow it might be quieter.
The SLP is alot quiter, more refined sound, and stainless. I'm sure the 4" mufflex flows better. Just get a cutout for when you need it and go with the SLP. The dual dual is another fine option.

obviously hes never heard it on an ls1. Id highly reccomend going with the mufflex with spintech muffler. by far one of the overall best sounding setups ive heard with hardly any rasp. Im waiting for my 3.5in mufflex with spintech to get here right now to go on my new setup to quiet it down. Very refined and unique sound that i highly reccomend. and to anyone who will get on here that will say the spintech doesnt flow blah blah blah, i dont dyno race i go by e.t results at the track, friends bolton/nitrous 6spd car with 3.5in w/spintech ran 10.97@127 thats with mac mids and y. proof enough for me.

I put a 2OTL muffler on my setup and left it on for only 2 days because I wanted to quiet it down a little (currently run a 3" Dynomax bullet in the stock location). It quieted it down ALOT but sounds like dogshit. It sounded really good on my LTx cars but horrible on my LSx. I'm going to try out my Hooker muffler next, I also have the 4" Slowmaster form an old Mufflex setup but that thing is freakin heavy. Good luck,

Were you looking for the 2OTL used??
AFAIK SLP does not manufacture these new anymore.
I have this on my stock exhaust/cats, mild bolt on car, and I could not be happier with the sound/power gains.
But then I do not want to wake the dead and draw the attention of EVERY cop within a 50 mile radius either.
I'm just not in love with the way it looks.
To me (I KNOW I'm the ONLY one who thinks this way) the best looking system on a 4th gen Camaro is a Mufflex type, in 304 stainless, using an oval XR1 Borla, with one big turndown/dump tucked up almost out of site AFTER the axle.

my buddys car, he had the mufflex first but switched over the slp 2otl. personally i think the slp 2otl sounds 90324839048903248x's better than the 4 inch mufflex
here are his vids

We sell and have had the Mufflex 4" system on our project car. We used the Spintech muffler which is much quieter than the Flowmaster Race muffler. The sound was really good. Nice and deep and not like any other system out there which commonly use the 3" tubing.

Silverlswon, that pretty much just answered the main question here with those videos. Its pretty hard to ask for more than the exact exhausts in question on the exact same car. Nice job.
Ping King... you make an excellent point. I would like to hear more about your setup and see some pics/videos of it.
I have often thought about calling the Mufflex people up and getting the "over axle" piece as well as the tail pipe. 4" I pipe and muffler could be supplied by ME!
To be honest with everyone, I am tired of even thinking about exhausts. I want to be done with it so I can focus on all that is yet to come. From the headers to the Y pipe is DONE! All that is left is from that point back. I'll get a 4" VBand clamp for the I pipe and hook it up to whatever else I decide to run.

Oh BTW, Fast Toys, I think I was responsible for the last GP you did on the Mufflex exhaust. It seems like I've been doing that lately for several people just based on the information that I have gathered and questions I ask. Seems like not too long ago it happened with a Moser 9". Too bad I havent actually been ready to take advantage of any of these GP's.
