Cadillac CTS-V - Valentine 1 Install but where is the blue wire?!

So i decided to install my hardwire kit. I followed the instructions here @ http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/v1install.html

But my car does not have a blue wire with a white stripe. In fact, there isn't a blue wire at all. Where the blue wire with a white stripe is, I have a RED wire with a BLACK stripe. Anyone know if i can use this wire instead?

I just noticed, there is a red wire with black stripe here in this picture, but I still don't have a blue wire with white stripe.

Here is the pic from cadillacfaq.

These are pics from mine, this is both sides of the plug, as you can see, where there should be a blue wire with white stripe is a ground wire.

Is yours a sun roof model? It looks like the blue with white is only for the sunroof. You might call cadillac and ask them what wire up there does the same function that you're needing for the valentine.
Good luck.

Did you look at the discription they posted. They said something about using the wire in the 3th(I think) position. Did you connect it to that one and test it out? I wish I could be more helpful but I don't have one.

Blue wire with WHITE stripe (adjacent to the black wire in the connector - if we call the black wire position 2 in that row (there are 4 wires) then the blue/WHITE stripe wire is position 3) = +12V delay switched. (see below)

i'll get it today. Sorry for the delay.

I dont know why my reply isn't here, but i found out, that the three big black wires were spliced into the wires that should be the right colors. It looks as thought it was done at the factory that way, but I have no idea why it would be like that. One of the big black wires was the blue w/ white stripe, another was a blue wire, and the 3rd was the ground. Very Odd, but I just kept cutting tape off till i found the mess.

Those wire taps are the devil.

I always use a butt-splice with two wires in one side and one in the other. Sometimes it takes a little bit larger butt-splice (14-12ga), but it's much more secure and reliable.

I just hardwired a Valentine One to my upper windshield area using the pink(+) and black/white(-) wires in the rearview harness. Works with key on, shuts off with key off. Snap off the cover behind your rearview.

I also found out you don't need a hardwire kit to.... hardwire it! :engarde:

I believe that it is where the one was wired to in my V, I can see wires if I cruntch my big ass up and look under the RVM

If you notice in this picture, the phone cord is cut, they use the Red (ground) and Green (power) wire. This is ONLY if you're not going to use the remote display. I have one but I don't think I'm going to use mine. When the radar is on the windshield at the top of the window (where it should be) its close enough to just reach up and tap.

5. At this point if you’re not using the remote display unit (and this install assumes that), you can cut the yellow and black wires off completely they are not used a stand-alone installation.

make sure you put an inline fuse in there :bang:

glance at the rear view more than i am the gauges.

wtf is up with the V1 head unit? it's hooked up to the cig port with the "straight" phone line, from kit. the thing is 150 degrees (hot)
at all times, like it's never been shut off...
i know the car turns off the power supply ports after 10-20 mins or so.

DSTUO, is ur unit like this? or anyone else?...for now, i'll just have to turn the
unit off when i get out,... untill i solve this mystery.

well i've had the V1 for a few days now...and no real bogy alerts
other than shopping center k band doors...wtf is the deal with
it not picking up police cruisers,? is it only me or don't all
police vehicals have radar technology on at all times?
i've gone by staties, and city cars atleast a dozen times
and not a peep out of the V1...what gives?

Officers aren't necessarily running radar constantly. Some will switch on and off.

I just hardwired a V1 into my 05 V (w/ sunroof). I used the wires as described on CadillacFAQ and my detector never goes off. I found another switched wire in the same harness (one of the yellows) but when I power up the detector goes haywire.

I wish I would have used wires from the rearview mirror instead, because as it sits, I have to manually turn the detector on and off, which is only slightly better than plugging it in the cigar lighter.

Any ideas?

Inline Fuse?

What size?

thanks-

OHSIXCTSV

after carefull consideration i opted not to do the hard wire install, as the
unit is now property of the cts-v...and i want to keep my options open.

also, the phone line, after geting use to it, doesnt bother me at all
(like i thought it would). i do turn off the unit after exiting car, and only turn it on when i know i'm in the need for some detection...(in areas i know to be hot spots)

Big Bird WS6
08-15-2008, 02:19 PM
well just keep the factory stuff and you can always take the unit out.
