Default UMI LCAs are NOISY!!!

I've had these on my car for a few months now and the racket they make is terrible. The are the single adj. ones with the rod and poly ends. I expected a little extra noise from the rod ends but damn! The poly bushing side is making a lot of noise as well. I used the synthetic grease UMI sells for the poly end and understood that the rodends are self lubricating. Why are they making so much noise?

Which side is connected to the body? When I had the rod side connected to the sfc it was loud but turning them around quieted them down.

Mine are the same way.... Drives me nuts. Espically going over speed bumps or something.

Mine is Poly/SFC, sperical/relocation bracket.

But they do feel solid....

Just to be sure, you applied the grease to the outer side of the bushing, were the bushing makes contact with the mount? I'm asking because I've saw atleast one example of when a guy packed the grease in the bolt hole and not the out side on the bushing.....Now that was a sqweeky ride.

I have the poly/rod UMI LCAs and they don't make very much noise at all.

is the rod-end side torqued down properly? Just thought I should offer that as well since that's quite a common occurance for those who have rod-ended LCA's and/or PHB.

i have the rod end connected to the rear and the poly end on he chassis. I did not grease the bushing on the outside, ill try that for that end. As for the rod end i did not torque anything specifically. i dont remember being told i had to. anyone know the torque spec off hand?

The torque spec I used was really F-ing tight. You aren't worried about binding polyurethane on that end, so clamp them down good.

My poly-rod LCAs still make some noise, but I found that going from my 10-bolt with c-clip axles to my 12-bolt with c-clip eliminators made a HUGE difference in the noises I was hearing. My 10-bolt axles with the clips always had a lot of play in them, and it was really amplified by the control arms.

Yes make sure they are torqued correctly, 99% of the noise issues we run into our loose bolts. Make sure the suspension is loaded while tightening the bolts, make sure the rod end is attached to the rear end, also make sure the rod end is straight up and down in the mount.. not turned to the side and maxed out. If you are running any type of SFC on the cars body mount the control arm needs to be extremely tight in order to compress the control arm bushing, usually 90-100 ft lbs.

Hope that helps,
Ryan

I will add that I had a lot of noise with mine until I re-checked the torque AND sprayed the rod ends with some Super Lube (I bought a can from UMI). Now they're only noisy when the lube wears off.

I just had mine installed and am having the same problem. I am thinking about switching them over to UMI Poly/Poly ADJ. LCA Maybe the poly end would be quieter.

I get a poly bushing noise in the back. Im hoping it was my poly phb and not my UMI poly/rod lca's cause I just bought a rodded UMI phb to replace the poly spohn bar. I wanted a rodded phb anyway but I just hate little annoying noises. Also the lca's get torqued tight as hell like someone mentioned.

I have the same UMI control arms you are speaking of. As of today mine are not noisy as you are speaking.

After driving with them on for a while you can barely even tell a difference.
