Default Amsoil

Hello, I have a question about Amsoil motor oil. I have heard that they are the best, and would like to try their oil at my next oil change. What are the differences between the XL-7500 5W-30 and the SAE 5W-30 that they offer? All that I can decipher from their website is the difference in service life. Is there anything else that I should know? BTW this will be going into a 2002 4.8 ECSB silverado that has occasional full throttle outings.
Thanks in advance.

The XL7500 is not a true synthetic, it uses a group 3 hydrocracked petroleum base stock. Plus it's additive package is not as good. The 5w30 (code:ASL) is much better, and is an excellent choice for the LS1, it's a very thick 30wt, almost 40wt, and this oil does not thin out, it's very stable.
