Default Lq9 in my 68 camaro

The engine is in. It is coming back out, but I had adapter plates made by a friend with a CNC machine. He dropped them off at VCR this afternoon. Thanks Mehran. They are Sick. I will post pics tomorrow. They moved the engine 1 3/4 back to help distribute weight evenly.

I switched the oil pan to a camaro oil pan. I have to pull it off and have it modified a little. I was hoping by moving the engine 1 3/4 in bach it would clear the sway bar.. it doesnt.

Here are some pics....

I am very excited.

Question:

I have not trimmed the oil pan down and it is resting on the sway bar...will that damage the pan? Should I still trim it?

THanks guys....

Sway bar or drag link? Most likley it's the drag link, and if the engine is sitting on it you won't be able to steer it. I'd cut the pan.

yeah the center link, you can see the sway bar clearly in the pics and it clears fine.
but im glad you put up that picture of the whole car, because i have been giving myself greif because my paint isnt perfect (its only my second attempt at a paint job) and if yours looks that good from 20 feet then peple probably wont pick on mine too bad.

from 20 feet the car looks great, 50 feet, even better, 5 feet, not so good....i need to sand the sh+t out of it.
If i had followed the directions on the boat paint, it would have been a lot less work and look a lot better. Live and learn

After waiting for a t56 in my pricerange, I mated the lq9 with the t56 and put it in. I cut the hole in the tunnel for the shifter. I still need to aquire the trans mount. I put in a Mccleod dual clutch good for 800 hp. I should have around 500 when all is said and done.

This week: transmount, start wiring and fuel lines. Install the Magnacharger and accessories on the engine.

FYI, the drivetrain has been sponsored by craigslist...not really sponsored, but I bought them both off of craigslist. The t56 delivered for 800 bucks and the engine with all accessories (brand new accessories) for 1000. I thought both were very good deals and the LQ9 in place of the LS1 as I could not find one for under 2200 bucks. The engine supposedly has 15k miles. Checked the mains and bearings and it looks very new.
