Default Pros/Cons of T56 VS Th400 in a turbo car aka, why T56 turbo cars suck.

FYI, this is a spinoff of another thread and meant to be semi humorous.

Th400 pros
1. Transbrake
2. Build boost of the foot brake
3. Never miss a shift
4. Never drop boost on a shift
5. Spool faster
6. Higher average HP put to the ground
7. More reliable (break less often)
8. Able to handle more power
9. more consistant when racing
10. never out of the power band
11. less gear changes
12. consistantly faster reaction times
13. traction, car is never becomes unloaded
14. faster shift times

Th400 Cons
1. worse gas milage
2. no lockup clutch on most (higher temps/milage)
3. takes more HP to turn them

T56 Pros
1. always having a transmission/clutch/driver excuse for losing/not running "what it should"
2. corner racing if you don't have too much power
3. gas milage
4. less parasitic loss
5. huge dyno numbers
6. Ability to get your blow off valve to woooosh any time you want

T56 Cons
1. Clutches die quick at high HP levels
2. Reliability
3. dropping boost of between shifts
4. slow shift times
5. much harder to launch well
6. consistancy
7. missed shifts
8. slow spool if you are not in your rpm band
9. unloading the chasis on shifts
10. more gears to go through = more wasted time / applied HP
11. huge dyno numbers that never perform at the track

Ready... FIGHT!

Well as said in the other tread......If I power shift the front never comes down, I'm always in the boost, the time it takes to shift is small and if never broke a tranny.....knock on wood.....now launching the car is very hard.......and i do agree an auto is the best for racing, but it is b.s. on the street....I have had a power glide in the car for 2 years, and it was gay to drive with that tranny....and I broke the thing 2 times.

I just broke my PG about a month ago. The input shaft let go, but that problem is solved now. I love my PG. I have actually raced it on the street 1 time as well against a 800rwhp Supra that was a 6 speed and I beat him twice, but I also left a 250ft. long black marks while smoke was bellowing from the fender wells.LOL!

Sounds like you need to learn more control of your right foot lol

I wouldn't want to run a PG on the street unless it was in a sub 3000lb car.

4l80 fixes all of the cons but the dyno figures i lost 100rw

anotther pro and con for the auto
pro is that its great for stop and go traffic
con is that its not as fun when there is NO traffic fun to drive, not necessarily faster.

The majority of the T56 cons....are either down to poor parts selection, or just a plain old crap driver !!!!!

Another silly "pro" list:

T56 Pro:

Always in the powerband by being able to select the proper gear at anytime.

T400 Pro:

Doesn't matter what ******* gear you're in....Mat that bitch in 3rd and it's still gonna pull your face back.

Autos are king of dig racing, but on the streets it seems the 6 speeds just don't run out of steam at the end like the autos. I love banging gears...but everytime I'm in an auto turbo car....it's an awesome experience.

T-56 Pro: Rev'in up the motor at a second's notice anywhere, anytime, for any occasion, just by pushing in the clutch... Rev at anyone that looks at you funny, rev at chicks, etc.

T-56 Con 1: Infinite debates with other members on the unicorn of car parts, a clutch that works... Spec vs Mcleoud vs Ram vs etc, viz. "X clutch sucks! It only lasted me 1 mile and I only have bolt-ons!" vs "X clutch is great! I make 3k rwhp and it's lasted me 10 years and I just removed it to look at it and it still looks brand new!"

T-56 Con 2: Coming to a stop, letting go of all the damn pedals, and asking yourself in total arrogance, "Why is this dumbass next to me creeping forward if we're both at a red light?" and then realizing you're the one creeping backward because you're not on the level street you thought you were, tapping some dude in a big truck behind you who looks like he's going to kill you (Not that I know what this is like!)...

Auto Pro: Talking on the cell phone, drinking a coke, filling out crossword puzzles, etc.

Auto Con: Getting tired of your foot on the brakes and putting it in neutral/park at stops... You're playing with the stick now aren't you... You should have gotten a stick!

TH400 con: Not being able to act all "manly" with your big bad clutch and 6 speed so you can hang to 297mph with the turbo busas on ricer freeway roll races!!!!1!!!!111!!!!!!

If ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE claims they can shift as fast as an auto and stay in boost as well between gears......they are just making themselves feel good. I know some can shift lightning fast, as could I when I was a turbo M6. There is still no comparison to an auto shift. The throttle blade never closes.

Wrong. Being in the "sweet spot" in a 6 speed still does not load the turbo like an auto will. Some 6 speeds don't even get full boost until 2nd or 3rd gear.

I raced a VERY similar car when I was 6 speed, and even though I started in the sweet spot, the TH400 car next to me always jumped ahead at the crack of the throttle.

The throttle doesn't close on a power shift either! An auto is still better, but who cares when is mostly a street car anyway

If someone gets some info out of it that's always good. Just got tired of messing up your other thread so I figured I'd start my own and rurn it to crap.

Who in the world are these people who say a TH400 car doesn't pull up top, that's just silly! They pull harder up top than down low. There is a very noticable difference (v-tech just kicked in yo) in my car after 6000 rpms when the converter gets to hydraulic lock up. The car starts to pull even harder all the way to 7000 where I click into the next gear.

P.S. Autos feel slower than a 6spd car. Cars much slower than mine feel faster to me yet aren't even close. Some manual cars that trap 6-10mph slower than me feel like they would beat me.
